The Boston Pizza brand has successfully existed for over 50 years since opening its first restaurant in Edmonton, Alberta in 1964. Boston Pizza International (BPI) has been recognized as a Platinum Member of Canada’s 50 Best Managed Companies and has been a Franchisees’ Choice Designation winner for seven consecutive years.

We are currently searching for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the accounting and finance team located at our head office in Richmond, BC. As a member of the executive management team, this role is responsible for overseeing the Finance, Planning & Budgeting, Internal Audit and the Investor Relations functions of BPI. The CFO provides solid financial leadership while collaborating closely with the President and other Senior Vice Presidents including the functional leads of Operations, Marketing, Legal, Business Technology and Franchising.

These responsibilities require the CFO to work effectively with the executive management team, outside consultants, franchisees, suppliers, and the trustees of the Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund to develop and execute goals, objectives and strategies. This encompasses:

- Boston Pizza Royalties Income Fund (publicly traded under TSX symbol BPF.UN)
- Boston Pizza International Inc (privately held operating company)
- Boston Pizza Group of Companies
- Including the Marketing Co-operative, the charitable Foundation
- Corporately owned restaurants
- Supporting the Franchisee community

Responsible for the overall performance of the Finance group including:

- Corporate Finance
- Accounting & Management Reporting
- Budgeting and Forecasting
- Tax Planning & Compliance
- Franchisee Liaison & Programs
- Investor Relations
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Insurance & Risk Management

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
**Corporate Activities - Finance**:

- Identify, maintain, communicate and execute finance opportunities
- Review and maintain accurate financial reporting (internal and external under IFRS)
- As a member of the management team, develop a business plan and forecast to estimate the future cash impact of decisions or business drivers
- Review and monitor the continuous update of financial models to facilitate rolling forecasts
- Participate on Boston Pizza Strategic Planning Team
- In cooperation with Senior Management and Department Heads or Vice President of Finance (VPF), develop individual department budgets, which consolidate into an overall corporate budget and become part of the corporate business plan
- Prepare timely and accurate operations reports to the management team, which provide useful information over and above standard financial reporting
- Develop and monitor capital expenditure budgeting considering project cost, financing costs, cash flow and return on investment. Also, review existing capital investments to justify viability
- In conjunction with the VPF, set accounting policies in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles taking into consideration the objectives of the Company
- Work with the bank and other financial institutions to supply all reporting required in the debt agreements and insure compliance of all debt covenants
- With the VPF, develop and maintain an internal control of structure that insures the integrity of accounting information is maintained in the areas of receivables, payables, treasury, revenues, fixed assets and financial reporting
- Develop a timely and accurate process of monitoring cash flow to insure internal control and maximize the return on cash assets
- Along with the outside tax advisors, coordinate tax-planning strategies to minimize tax
- Assemble and supervise the finance group, monitor staff performance and evaluate department effectiveness

**Budgeting and Management Reporting Activities - Finance**:

- With the VPF, review and monitor continuous update of financial models to facilitate rolling forecasts
- With the VPF, review and monitor continuous update of the financial information binder
- Provide ad-hoc analysis for other operational departments (example; profitability model)
- Support business development by reviewing and monitoring the financial model for new store locations or transfers/sales of existing locations
- Develop and provide succession plans for top performers in the Finance team

**Mergers & Acquisitions**:

- Identify, maintain, communicate, analyze, assess feasibility and recommend acquisitions
- Lead financial aspects (Valuation, Due Diligence, Finance, Legal, Accounting, Tax) for acquisition opportunities

**Franchisee Activities**:

- In conjunction with the VPF and Senior Management team, monitor accounts receivable and provide feedback and direct
