**Overview**

Communications is a critical aspect of the work at Kinark. Communicating effectively with staff, clients and stakeholders serves to foster an effective identity for the organization and build a culture aligned with the core values of Kinark.

We are seeking a strong communicator and leader that understands these goals and can help us realize the potential of a highly effective communications program.

**Job Summary**

**Our standard terms and conditions of employment include a work arrangement of being in the office 5 days a week. Kinark has recently introduced a new benefit that gives employees the opportunity to work their role in a hybrid or fully remote arrangement, as assessed for their position, for those who wish to opt-in for this benefit. The role of Communications Manager has been positionally assessed in the ‘Remote Worker’ classification, defined as mínimal days in the office unless business demands require.**

**SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES**

Reporting to the VP, Strategy, the Communications Manager is responsible for:

- Supporting the development and execution of internal and external marketing and communication strategies
- Maintaining the administration, oversight and quality assurance of the communication team
- Building capacity of Kinark leaders and staff in various communication demands
- Developing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships across the sector, partners, and government
- Staying current with news relevant to the sectors we serve including e-media and Ministry news of updates/changes in agency sectors
- Monitoring and appropriate response to social media activity relating to Kinark
- Management of communication tools and databases that support environmental scanning and social media monitoring
- Promoting and reporting on agency milestones, organizational goals and projects, new products or services, community service activities
- Developing strategies to increase employee awareness
- Management and cultivation of the website

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or in a related field
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure
- Excellent organizational and leadership abilities
- Strong knowledge of communication practices and techniques
- Experience in managing social media platforms, which includes content creation and ROI generation
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish solid working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Understanding analytics and other forms of measurement that can uncover site traffic, sales and the share of voice and sentiment
- Demonstrated knowledge of resource allocation, budget development and cost tracking
- Effectively lead, guide, coach, and mentor communications staff members
- Experience with various print processes, MS Office, Adobe, Jostle, SharePoint, WordPress, HTML
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment Medical.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role

**Kinark Child and Family Services conditions of employment include but are not limited to successful Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening, completed Pre-Employment Medical certificate, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19.** Fully vaccinated is defined as having received all required doses of a World Health Organization Approved COVID-19 Vaccine at least one of which being approved for use in Canada and 14 days have passed since your last dose. Proof of vaccination for each vaccine dose received is required.
