Marine Life Education Facilitator

This position is responsible for the development and delivery of all educational programs that pertain to West Edmonton Mall’s Marine Life Education and will be working closely with the Education Presenter and the Animal Care team.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Delivering Marine Life educational programs that cater from preschool to Grade 12, and general public groups.
- Taking course bookings and confirming courses with customers.
- Delivering presentations and monitoring touch pools as required.
- Assisting the Marine Life Education Supervisor in the preparation of the Marine Life Education budget.
- Assisting supervisors with creating the CAZA education committee.
- Providing course information to clients and liaising with existing groups on an ongoing basis.
- Learning animal care and handling for presentation ambassador animals, including turtles, tortoises, lizards, frogs, and small snakes.
- Communicating between departments, including Admissions, Marketing, and Maintenance.
- Developing and maintaining a schedule of program bookings, balancing program needs and staffing requirements.
- Providing mentorship to the Education Presenter.
- Processing payments and monthly inventory.
- Maintaining an excellent cleanliness of all guest areas.
- Other duties as required.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Formal training in educational programing. Post secondary degree in education, and knowledge of the Alberta Curriculum program an asset.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to manage and control a classroom of children.
- Ability to work sucessfully with professional education officials and teachers.
- Previous animal handling experience is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers’ License and able to provide a clear Driver’s Abstract
- Able to develop new curriculum related courses.
- Familiar with processing payments and cash flow.
- First Aid and CPR courses.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills.
- Familiarity with programs such as Microsoft teams, Word, Excel, and Galaxy an asset.

**Terms of Employment**:

- This is a permanent, full-time position that requires flexible availability including days, weekends, and holidays.
- This position works in a busy mall environment primarily at attractions and in a classroom setting.
- This individual is required to interact successfully with guests and children of all ages.
- The position requires some city traveling to deliver educational courses.
- Must be able to pass a basic security clearance.

**Salary**: $18.80 per hour
