- 7 days on, 7 days off after training
- Monday to Sunday, 5 am to 5 pm in the office during your work week
- Available to take calls in the evening as needed

Welcome to Hodder Tugboat Co. Ltd., a customer-centric and distinguished marine towing company with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. Based in Richmond, B.C., we have been proudly serving the British Columbia coast and its navigable waterways for three generations.
Primarily catering to the forest industry, Hodder Tugboat specializes in the transportation of logs, lumber, and related products. Moreover, our versatile services also support diversified sectors such as short-sea shipping, aggregate, bunkering and general bulk cargo.
Our skilled team of 65 professionals operates a fleet of 12 tugboats and four crew boats, complemented by extensive waterlot leases for log storage. The strength of our organization lies in the experienced management team, who ensures that our customer-focused approach remains at the forefront of our operations.
Hodder Tugboat places utmost importance on safety and adhering to high industry standards. As a member of BC Forest Safe Council, we conduct annual safety audits and continuously work on enhancing our safety measures. **Job Summary**:
As a Marine Operations Dispatcher, you will play a crucial role in coordinating and managing the efficient movement of log booms and barges to and from local lumber mills and storage grounds. You will work closely with our skilled tugboat crews, communicate with customers, and utilize industry-specific software to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. To work with customers to take orders and communicate regarding storage of logs and movement of logs to create friendly, comprehensive communication with realistic targets for completion of all barge movements, log yarding and log towing. Communication must be extremely transparent and professional at all times.
2. To dispatch all work in accordance with the weather, tidal conditions, crew ability and vessel capability to ensure safe work practices and targeted weekly profitability.
3. To seek to build relationship with all customers by giving attention to their needs.
4. To assist the General Manager in communicating opportunities to applicable customers.
5. To seek to recognize, identify and suggest alternative ways of gaining efficiency while safely carrying out existing work on logs and barges.
