**Strategic Sourcing Specialist**

**Functional Responsibility**: Responsible for the efficient procurement of Capital Equipment and contracted services. The incumbent shall exhibit sound judgment, leadership and specialized knowledge ensuring procurement decisions achieve best overall value for the corporation. Previous experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered an asset.
- Collaborate with engineering to define contractual deliverables for capital equipment.
- Develop and maintain business relationships with customers, suppliers and business associates.
- Prepare, issue, receive and participate in the analysis of formal RFI and RFPs. Ensure awards are in accordance with established evaluation criteria, best practice and within commercial law.
- Lead procurement related negotiations with existing and new vendors.
- Negotiate total cost of ownership of capital equipment with focus/goal of cost reduction and Cost Avoidance.
- Collaborate with logistics and engineering to define appropriate shipping terms.
- Monitor on-time delivery and expediting orders as needed.
- Coordinate milestone payments among accounts payable, engineering and suppliers.
- Track and renegotiate vendor contracts as necessary.
- Ensure all relevant documentation is completed with all required information for the purposes of obtaining approvals and recording and reporting business.
- Participate in training opportunities as per annual development plans.
- Participate in cross training opportunities throughout the department.
- Remain conversant regarding new technology, government regulations, policies and procedures related to procurement.

- Minimum of 5 years directly related experience.
- Proven Negotiation Skills.
- Working towards or completion of SCMP Designation or equivalent.
- Advanced understanding of Corporate Purchasing procedures.
- Demonstrated high level of initiative and motivation to simultaneously handle complex procurement assignments in a team environment.
- Provide procurement expertise, identify and execute opportunities for improvement and resolve procurement issues in a team environment.
- Advanced understanding of the various functions and responsibilities of the various departments and divisions throughout the corporation.
- Proficient knowledge of the various material and services used throughout the corporation.
- Effective project manager with in-depth-knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Total Cost of Ownership and Cost Reduction/Avoidance.
