**GC Custom Metal Fabrication is a family owned & operated sheet metal fabrication company based in Edmonton, AB. Starting in 1982, the goal of matching excellent customer service with high quality products has remained the focus. Since then, our advanced capabilities have grown to include a variety of CNC programmable machines including laser-cutting, brake forming, waterjet cutting and more, in a 30,000 square foot production facility. Over the past almost 40 years, this approach has helped our client build strong customer relationships, referrals and repeat clients.**

**Responsibilities**
- Reporting to the shop foreman, directly liaising with day shift staff as required, the Powder Coat Technician will be in charge and accountable for all Powder Coating activities and work orders as directed by the shop foreman.
- Accountable for all safety related matters in the Powder coating Area with a “Safety first “Attitude.
- A bonified job requirement and qualification is the ability to wear a full-face respirator for extended periods of time that includes a fit test for the mask at time of hire or proof of previous and current fit test.
- Meeting deadlines and quotas that are assigned by GC custom Metal management.
- Having the capability to log in/ log out of Job Boss to start, track, and conclude time spent on projects.
- Operating all the Electrostatic Powder Coat Equipment that includes operation of the spray machine; pre and post powder coat area preparation, clean up; placing the finished product into the “bake oven for prescribed period and preparation of the product for shipping to the customer.
- Understanding and preparing all the paperwork related to the order up to the shipping of product.
- Tracking powder inventory and other consumables and communicate needs to shop foreman.
- Supervising the Powder coat assistant and providing both general assistance/ being accountable for with shop housekeeping, labor, and general cleaning.

**Qualifications**
- A minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience with electrostatic powder coating equipment.
- 2-3 Years' general experience working in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Proven reliability and work ethic.
- Valid class 5 operators license in good standing and reliable transportation to commute to and from work.
- A bonified job requirement and qualification is the ability to wear a full-face respirator that includes a fit test for the mask at time of hire.
- A Demonstrated commitment to a safety-first attitude.
- Strong knowledge of tools, concepts and methodologies of fabrication, powder coating and quality assurance in meeting both GC metal and customer specifications.
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and positive attitude.
- Ability to deal effectively with a variety of personalities.
- Ability to work in a shop facility and are capable of lifting 50lbs.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficient in the use of the English language.
- Strong organizational and reasoning skills
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and tasks and accomplish work safely in a time sensitive environment.
- A Valid Standard First Aid Certificate, forklift operation and overhead crane are considered definite assets.

**Work Conditions**
- Shift hours 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- Production shop environment with various physical hazards
- Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time.
