Family and Adoption Outreach Worker - SNAPP - Supports & Networking for Adoption - Permanency Planning - Surrey, British Columbia
**Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and youth who need permanent homes or adoption?**
Join our team as a Family and Adoption Outreach Worker. You will work collaboratively with planning teams to help with permanency planning and transition planning for children in the care of the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
This position involves providing a clear understanding of children's history and supporting the preparation of their Lifebook, as well as preparing for and providing support during permanency placements.
The position is located in the South Fraser region and requires travel within the region for home visits.
Applicants with Indigenous heritage or experience working with Indigenous children and families who have the necessary qualifications as outlined below will be given priority.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Must have post-secondary diploma or degree in a social or humanities-related field. This position is a great match for those with diplomas or degrees in study areas such as child and youth work, early childhood education, and social service work.
- Previous experience working with children, including knowledge of developmental stages, attachment issues, trauma, loss and grief, and special needs.
- Familiarity with custody and permanency placement processes for children in the care of the Ministry of Children and Families.
- Cultural sensitivity and knowledge, particularly regarding Indigenous culture and history.
- Previous experience in education and facilitation is desirable.
- Effective communication skills, adapting to the language, and cultural background, and understanding of the target audience.
- Willingness to undergo a vulnerable sector criminal record check.
- Possession of a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes.
