Kemptville District Hospital is hiring a Vice President Nursing/Clinical Services/Chief Nursing Executive.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**LEADERSHIP**
- Communicates and upholds, as well as ensures all departments align with, the hospital’s strategic vision, mission, values, and goals;
- Applies and promotes the concept of “systems thinking” for holistic management and decision-making;
- Engages in strategic and resource planning at the organizational level;
- Actively contributes to Senior Management Team decision-making and policy formulation, offering data and insights to inform corporate direction;
- Attends and reports at meetings of the Board of Directors and their committees, providing updates on portfolio activities;
- Leads the coordination and collaboration to meet Canadian Accreditation Standards Compliance;
- Guides the development of goals and objectives, as well as strategies and action plans at the departmental and service levels;
- Upholds and ensures across all departments the adherence to the principles of Patient and Family Centered Care, whose core concepts are dignity and respect, information sharing, participation and collaboration.

**Chief Nursing Executive (CNE) Responsibilities**:
**CLINICAL RESPONSBILITIES**
- Holds ultimate accountability for all clinical outcomes of the hospital, ensuring that patient care is delivered in accordance with the highest standards;
- Ensures compliance with the Hospital Services Accountability Agreement (H-SAA) as the governing document, as signed by the hospital;
- Maintains and enforces adherence to clinical standards and best practices, ensuring all clinical services align with regulatory and Accreditation requirements;
- Upholds and promotes medical ethics within the hospital, ensuring that all clinical staff adhere to ethical guidelines and standards of practice;
- Oversees the implementation of quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and safety;
- Develops and executes strategic plans for clinical services, aligning them with the hospital’s overall mission and vision;
- Ensures that all clinical activities and patient care initiatives are centered around patient and family-centered care principles, emphasizing dignity, respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration.

**COORDINATION OF PATIENT CARE**
- Ensures that care is delivered to each patient in accordance with Hospital Mission Statement, Philosophy of Care and Professional Standards;
- Acts as liaison, mediator and advocate between patient, family and physician;
- Ensures continuity of care and discharge plans, and assists in dealing with utilization issues related to appropriateness of admission;
- Ensures communication between members of the multidisciplinary team;
- Delegates responsibilities within scope of personnel abilities;
- Ensures availability of proper equipment and supplies;
- Promotes patient education and satisfaction and ensures appropriate resources are available;
- Ensures that potential and actual patient incidents are investigated and documented appropriately.

**HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT**
- Evaluates the performance of all staff that report to the position;
- Monitors and controls the utilization of all resources to ensure alignment with strategic directions;
- Supports managers in the recruitment, retention and disciplinary action of staff;
- Develops strategies to promote retention, recruitment and recognition of excellence of staff.

**GOVERNANCE AND COMPLIANCE**
- Attends Board meetings as an ex-officio member with voting rights by virtue of holding the Chief Nurse role and contributes to decision-making;
- Acts as administrative contact for provincia
