Role:
**Responsibilities**:
- Monitor the company’s overall transportation and equipment budge, safety and performance.
- Create, implement, and track preventative maintenance programs to maximize vehicle and material handling equipment utilization and reliability, and reduce cost.
- Ensure compliance with all regulating agencies and codes: National Safety Code, Ministry of Transport, Safety Recalls, Hours of Service Regulations, Safety Inspections, Audits, ELD Mandate, etc.
- Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and equipment—availability, rentals, trades and disposals.
- Plan and schedule the maintenance and repair of vehicles and material handling equipment.
- Oversee the preventative maintenance program for tire management - selecting, retreading and tracking.
- Manage loss prevention including accident prevention, investigations and claims.
- Prepare, monitor and control the budget and work plan for all functions of the department.
- Outsource and select 3rd party maintenance facilities; effectively negotiate rates and contracts, and maximize discounts.
- Monitor budget expenditures, provide forecasting, and report on any variances.
- Manage the procurement of vehicles and material handling equipment-Factory ordering, vehicle and equipment spec’ing, replacement strategies (new and used).
- Monitor vehicle and equipment delivery, preparation, inspection and orientation.
- Track and monitor fuel consumption (m/g or km/L)-select and negotiate volume discounts with vendors, manage fuel cards, theft prevention.
- Administration of insurance, registration, taxes, and warranty programs—standard, extended, claim submission, reimbursement, etc.
- Keep an accurate asset inventory list including disposal information.
- Maintain accurate records of all driver and vehicle activity and communicate these reports to executives and stakeholders.
- Stay up to date on Trucking and Material Handling Equipment industry news, trends, new products and services.

- Tickets/Diplomas in Operations, Logistics, Maintenance, or relevant designation(s).
