**Position Title**:Early Childhood Educator Level 1, 2, & 3
**Location**:Before & After School Care Program, Medicine Hat (11 sites)
**Status**:Part Time Early Morning Weekdays (6:30-9AM)
**Salary**: Level 1 Early Childhood Educator: $15.00 per hour
Level 2 Early Childhood Educator: $17.50 per hour
Level 3 Early Childhood Educator: $19.00 per hour
*Top up is not included in the hourly wages, and are available for applicable staff

With an operating budget of $6.5M, the YMCA of Medicine Hat offers services and programs at 2 recreation centres (Downtown and South Ridge), 2 employment centres (Medicine Hat & Brooks), and 13 licensed childcare programs.

**What qualifications are we looking for?**
- Exceptional customer service attitude
- Be organized, resourceful and creative
- Strong leadership and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Experience providing childcare in a licensed facility based childcare centre is an asset, however, not required
- Experience working in an out-of-school care program is an asset, however, not required
- Child Development Certificate (Level 1, Level 2 or Level 3 are preferred however on the job training and support to obtain your level 1 will be provided)
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (including Vulnerable Sector Check only if working with children), within the past 6 months
- Clear Child Welfare Check
- Cover letter and resume
- 3 Professional References
**What does this role look like at the YMCA?**
Under the supervision and guidance of the B&A Site Directors, the Educators are responsible for the following:
- Implementing and facilitating out-of-school care programming based on the YMCA’s national curriculum A Place to Connect, ensuring that daily activities are planned and set up for the children which are based on the children’s interests
- Understand healthy child development, and use this knowledge to plan activities to meet the developmental needs of the children
- Understand physical literacy, and use this knowledge to plan activities to meet the children’s gross motor development
- Engage in play with the children to develop healthy relationships while supporting the development of pro-social skills, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, dramatic play, etc.
- Working collaboratively with educators, site leads, site directors, parents, schools, and other representatives from the YMCA to ensure that the needs of the children in program are met
- Provide excellent communication and customer service to parents, guardians, and the community
- Always provide a safe and positive environment for all children which supports their development and ability to grow
- Ensure the Early Learning and Childcare Act and regulations are being always followed
- Ensure all health and safety procedures are always followed, this includes preventative cleaning of toys, fire safety procedures, emergency procedures, etc.
- Complete set up, take down and daily cleaning tasks and ensure that YMCA SAM standards are maintained
- Model the YMCA Values and mission
- Role model appropriate leadership, communication and behaviors to all children and community members
- Facilitate and engage children in planned activities during out-of-school times including PD days, school breaks, and summer camps
- Completing documentation for programming as required by the A Place to Connect Curriculum
- Ensure that written and verbal communication with parents is ongoing and presenting using a strength-based approach
- Ensure that the out-of-school care program space is set up in a way that supports supervision, while remaining clutter free and safe for the children
- Ensure that you are familiar with each child’s health information including their allergies and medications, as well as the location and how to administer the medication. Required forms must be completed by the parents.
