Job Overview:
Duties and Responsibilities:
This position will perform a variation of the following duties, depending on operational needs, customer needs, project requirements:

- Use standard engineering tools and software to validate electrical systems.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering and design deliverables including medium & low voltage power distribution single line diagrams, power and control schemes, equipment and cable tray layouts, cable schedules, cable and conduit routings, grounding, ground grid, lightning, and lighting layouts.
- Develop equipment and instrument list, motor list, cable schedule, select appropriate type per customer specifications and QCA standards, equipment specifications.
- Size protective device, circuit breakers, cables and VFDs, load demand calculations.
- Design Electrical rooms, location drawings, MCCs and VFDs panel layouts, motor control schematics.
- Perform power studies in Etap, SKM or EasyPower: load flow, short circuit analysis, coordination study, arc flash, harmonic study, voltage drop for electrical distribution systems.
- Set up protection devices, circuit breakers and protection relays.
- Prepare, review, and approve engineering studies and calculations, technical documentation to support design activities.
- Review and approve vendor drawings, inspect electrical components during and after installation, perform FAT testing in-house and occasionally at remote locations.
- Work collaboratively with diverse internal and external stakeholders, project managers, engineers, designers, and drafters.
- Education and Experience:

- Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised post-secondary institution.
- 10+ years of current and relevant professional experience.
- Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC.
- Proficient with Etap, SKM or EasyPower.
- A thorough understanding of power studies Load Flow, Power Factor Correction, Protective Device Coordination, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, and Ground Grid.
- Working knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, NFPA and other industry standards and requirements pertaining to electrical systems and safety.
- Familiarity with international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC) is advantageous.
