**Program Facilitator, Building Resiliency in Girls Program**

**Full-Time Temporary**

Building Resiliency in Girls (BRG) is a gender-responsive, prevention/intervention program that aims to address to social, emotional and cultural needs of adolescent girls. BRG responds to issues such as social isolation, violence, poor self-esteem and distorted body images; and is designed to build self-esteem, foster pro-social behaviours, and provides curriculum to help young females in establishing meaningful relations and cultivating a healthy female identity. BRG utilizes Girls Circle - a model of structured support groups - as a way of equipping young females with the skills to endure struggle, adjust, and cope with hardships they may face. This structured support model counters social isolation by providing at-risk youth in the community with a safe and confidential space in which they can share their personal experiences and express their emotions through discussion and creative activities. The hours for this position vary from Mondays to Fridays and evening work may be required.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Manages and facilitates the operation of BRG groups, with activities that will assist clients in their emotional, social and educational development
- Provides support to clients during program activities and encourages increased independence and self-reliance
- Creatively markets and secures approval from School Boards, Community Centers, and other related organizations to partner with, for the facilitation of BRG programs for young females
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with stakeholders and community partners within the community
- Plans and manages a budget for program materials used during group facilitation
- Provides additional support, coverage and programming for on
- and off-site Section 23 programs
- Recruits and maintains students and/or volunteer’s co-facilitators for group facilitation
- Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the youth care profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.

A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations; prior experience working with women and girls is considered an asset
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to engage, support, and interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach
- Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming
- A thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth
- Strong community development and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven leadership skills and strong knowledge of community resources
- Interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non-judgmental manner
- Problem solving and leadership skills, with the ability to judiciously handle crisis situations with clients

**Mandatory Job Requirements**:

- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR certification
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) - criminal background check (completed within the last 6 months)
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and access to reliable vehicle
- Evidence of COVID-19 vaccination status
