**SUMMARY**:
**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Language & Cultural Planning:

- Develop a comprehensive Language Plan to promote language learning and fluency across all generations.
- Design and implement a Cultural Plan that ensures the preservation and revitalization of traditional practices, knowledge, and teachings.
- Work collaboratively with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, educators, and community members to ensure cultural and linguistic integrity.
- Identify and secure funding sources to support language and cultural revitalization initiatives.

**PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATION**
- Organize and coordinate land-based teaching programs, integrating traditional knowledge and skills with modern learning approaches.
- Plan and facilitate wellness retreats and workshops, incorporating cultural teachings and language learning opportunities.
- Develop partnerships with educational institutions, language experts, and cultural organizations to enhance program offerings.
- Create educational materials, language resources, and curriculum development for various age groups.

**COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & ADVOCACY**:

- Engage with community members to assess needs, gather input, and foster active participation in cultural and language programs.
- Coordinate community events, celebrations, and ceremonies that reinforce cultural identity and language use.
- Advocate for Indigenous language rights and cultural preservation at local, regional, and national levels.

**DATA SOVEREIGNTY & KNOWLEDGE PROTECTION**:

- Ensure that all cultural and linguistic data collected is managed in accordance with Indigenous data sovereignty principles.
- Develop protocols and guidelines for ethical data collection, storage, and usage to protect traditional knowledge.
- Work with community leadership to establish frameworks for data governance that respect Indigenous intellectual property rights.

**ADMINISTRATIVE AND REPORTING DUTIES**:

- Supervise and coordinate the Cultural Coordinator and Language Coordinator, providing guidance, support, and oversight for program implementation.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
- Maintain records of program activities, participant feedback, and impact assessments to continuously improve program effectiveness.

**QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS**
- Bachelor’s degree in Indigenous Studies, Education, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Demonstrated experience in language and cultural revitalization projects within Indigenous communities.
- Strong project management and leadership skills.
- Experience in community engagement, facilitation, and working with Elders and Knowledge Keepers.
- Knowledge of Indigenous language(s) and commitment to language preservation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Grant writing and funding management experience is an asset.
- Ability to travel and participate in on-the-land activities as required.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $25.00 per hour
