**VISION**:
At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honor the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally, and internationally for generations to come.
**SCOPE**:
The **Community Engagement Coordinator** will provide communication, collaboration, and planning support to the ONWA Community Development Portfolio. The **Community Engagement Coordinator **will develop, implement, and support community engagement activities as part of the Community Development team. In addition, the Community Engagement Coordinator will ensure that engagement functions and resources are effectively integrated, organized, and leveraged to meet strategic and operational needs. They will be responsible for developing and enhancing key community relationships and improving engagements with ONWA services and membership, Indigenous Communities, and internal and external stakeholders.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Social Sciences, Indigenous Studies, or Women’s Studies, with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ work experience in community service delivery in a community engagement coordination role.
- Knowledge and experience in research and engagement processes and protocols.
- Expert knowledge in local, national, and international guidelines, recommendations, and legislation relating to Indigenous research.
- Expertise in research collaborations with Indigenous communities, leadership, and Indigenous Women’s organizations.
- Ability to work cross-culturally, and especially across the range of Indigenous communities, and internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to take initiative, gain consensus and work with people representing varying interests.
- Excellent communication skills including written, oral, and facilitation skills to participate in engagement, draft meeting summaries, reports, and briefing materials, and actively participate in task teams, and working groups.
- Experience in integrated knowledge translation engaging multiple audiences and users of knowledge in the research process is required.
- Proven successful work experience on a community committee specifically related to Indigenous people.
- Experience coordinating, and facilitating meetings, workshops, and engagements.
- Demonstrated administrative management and coordination skills.
- Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, and Indigenous communities.
- Strong awareness of issues affecting Indigenous women and people and awareness of community resources within the province.
- Solution-oriented with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of and relationships with other service agencies, ability to network and create/maintain these relationships.
- Experience with resource development and implementation.
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues facing Indigenous Women and their families.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and be able to improve performance through management feedback.
- Ability to plan, organize and manage time effectively.
- Highly motivated individual with the ability to work with mínimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and an ability to follow through on assigned duties independently with strict deadlines.
- Knowledge of Not-For-Profit organizations.
- The ability to speak an Indigenous Language is considered an asset.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Reliable vehicle, appropriate 2-million dollar vehicle insurance coverage, and valid Ontario “G” class driver’s license.
- Current, valid vulnerable sector criminal records Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
- A cellular phone and internet access are required for this position.
- Must be willing and able to work a flexible working-from-home arrangement if This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in-office arrangements. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.
