We are currently seeking a **Permitting Superintendent, Touquoy**, to join our team. This is a full time permanent role with our Atlantic Operations located at our office in Bedford, NS. Reporting to the Permitting Manager, you will lead current compliance and permitting requirements pertaining primarily to the Touquoy Site. The role will also contribute to ongoing permitting and compliance requirements for future projects.

**The Opportunity**:

- Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
- Planning and delivering the permitting of current and future mine projects including but not limited to Federal and Provincial Environmental Assessments, Industrial Approvals, Fisheries Authorization, Water Withdrawals, Wetland Alterations etc.
- Coordinating the development of baseline monitoring, sampling, and inspection schedules, as well as assisting with the development of staff and consultant schedules and responsibilities.
- Engaging leadership on a regular basis on effectiveness of current systems to ensure environmental compliance in all activities within Atlantic Operations and Projects.
- Managing compliance with various existing and any new environmental approvals and permits for current and planned operations.
- Managing consultants and contractors in the completion of complex analysis to support permitting and compliance requirements to meet regulated and internal timelines and budgets.
- Developing and maintaining a compliance database including records of permits received, requirements, communications and completion.
- Supporting the continued development, implementation, and period revision of the Environmental Management Plans (EMPs), Environmental Monitoring Plans (EEMs), and Environmental Protection Plan (EPP) for the Project.
- Responsible for contract management, proposal review, coordinating the approvals process for work scope budgets.
- Reporting and presenting concerns or issues to the Extended Leadership Group and/or Local Regulators.
- Managing effective use of available resources, including own time, in support of the delivery of the Permitting and Projects team.
- Contributing to the development of capability within the team.
- Contributing to communications between Environment and Permitting teams.
- Ensuring own work performance meets all role requirements; and taking appropriate professional development actions.
- Managing outputs and development of the team and all Team Members.

- A personal commitment to behavior consistent with St Barbara's Values including honesty and integrity, respect, working together, delivering to promise and striving to do better.
- Three or more years experience in coordinating technical workstreams involving engineering and/or environmental components.
- Experience with environmental management, monitoring and permitting requirements associated with development projects including compliance tracking and reporting.
- Background in conducting quality review and assurance of documents, data, and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills, including advanced technical writing and strong computer skills.
- Development and monitoring of budgets related to multidisciplinary programs including field components.
- Experience in mining considered an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in managing Health and Safety issues
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Current unencumbered Class 5 Driver’s Licen
