This position is a full-time opportunity and once successfully completing your training, you will continue your employment with BHP in a permanent position based at our Jansen mine site.- Traineeships are an 18-month training program based at the Jansen mine site, working a 7 days on, 7 days off rotation. Trainees work closely and be mentored by an experienced team of emergency response professionals. Trainees will receive a blend of practical and hands-on learning while becoming skilled in a variety areas of emergency response.- As this role is not eligible for accommodation in the site camp, the incumbent must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Jansen site. BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a relocation allowance.- About BHP Potash- The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.- Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for late 2026. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. - About the Role- In this role, you will:
- Learn to develop policies and procedures that provide direction for safe and effective emergency response operations.
- Learn to improve the effectiveness of emergency response services to uplift organizational capability in managing emergencies/incidents.
- Identify and engage with external stakeholders that may be involved in an emergency event at the BHP Jansen site.
- Participate in identifying and assessing risks using BHP's risk management framework and contribute to a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
- Learn to manage resources towards ensuring fire safety inspections and audits executed as planned and entered into SAP.
- Participate in field leadership obligations.
- Learn to operate mine rescue and emergency response equipment, including how to inspect and maintain the equipment in compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in the planning and execution of emergency exercises.
- Learn to act as a liaison with operations and construction work planning functions and develop rescue pre-plans as required.
- Exposure to challenging and physically demanding situations during emergency responses.
- About You- **Be willing to learn activities such as confined space rescue, high rope rescue and underground emergency response.**:
- Have a strong desire to learn about emergency response, preferably within the industrial or mining sector.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to train and instruct others effectively.
- Strong problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
