**About Purpose Construction**
Purpose Construction is a non-profit social enterprise trades training organization that combines quality construction services with a powerful social mission: providing trades training and employment opportunities for people who face barriers to entering the construction industry.
Our training program works with Indigenous peoples, refugees, newcomer Canadians, people transitioning out of the child welfare and justice systems, and members of the LGBBTQS2IA+ community. All training takes place on active jobsites, where participants gain hands-on experience while Purpose Construction delivers quality projects for clients.
Our work includes interior renovations and new-build residential construction. We are committed to delivering projects on time and on budget, while creating pathways into construction careers for diverse communities.
**Position Overview**
**Key Responsibilities**
- Supervise daily site operations, including crews, subcontractors, and trades
- Schedule and coordinate activities to keep projects on track and within budget
- Enforce compliance with health & safety regulations and maintain safe working conditions
- Review and interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
- Ensure quality customer interactions throughout the company, including ensuring all staff are interacting with customers in a professional manner
- Receive customer feedback and follow up with relevant staff
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality control checks
- Mentor and support employees and program participants gaining construction experience
- Train staff in trades and life skills
- Effectively address and resolve disputes to ensure successful conflict management
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on site to maintain project flow
- Communicate effectively with clients, project managers, and administrative staff
- Material sourcing and management
**Qualifications & Experience**
- Minimum 3-5 years of construction supervision or related leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, and safety practices
- Experience leading diverse teams; mentorship experience is an asset
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Experience working with, or lived experience as a member of a marginalized community, is considered a strong asset
