**Position Summary**
This Coordinator, Emergency Management will support and coordinate the Regional Emergency Management Program focusing on four key pillars: Preparedness, Prevention, Response, and Recovery. The Coordinator will ensure the ongoing readiness of the regional Incident Management Team throughout Lethbridge County and partnering/neighbouring municipalities. The Coordinator will develop and maintain the emergency management plan for the County, and ensure ongoing compliance with provincial regulations as it relates to emergency management.
The incumbent will need to build and foster relationships with partners, where they do not have direct authority to lead, and will collaborate to achieve desired outcomes. This position performs functions which require confidentiality, tact, diplomacy, strong public relations and writing skills.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manage and create comprehensive Emergency Response Plans (ERP’s) that outline procedures for responding to different types of emergencies
- Ensure response plans comply with relevant regulations and standards and are clearly communicated and accessible
- Review and update plans annually, or as required, to reflect changes in risks, regulations, and organizational structures
- Analyze historical data from past incidents and exercises to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations to leadership
- Coordinate and conduct training and mock exercises for stakeholders within the Regional Framework for Emergency Management
- Support the Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC) framework based on the incident scope and requirements
- Assist with the coordination of emergency response efforts
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including area emergency management entities
- Foster and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders focusing on clear, effective communication
- Identify and coordinate training of appropriate staff to function in the ECC
- Maintain the equipment and technology required to run the ECC
- Identify enhancements of the ECC to ensure operational effectiveness and capacity to manage any incident
- Support the development and maintenance of the Regional Emergency Response Plan and liaise with provincial authorities to ensure plan is compliant with existing regulations and best practices
- Coordinate with communication specialists to develop and implement innovative strategies to promote the message of emergency preparedness
- Lead the community awareness and preparedness program
- Support operations as outlined in the Lethbridge County Regional Emergency Management Partnership Agreement 001-24
- Assume the role of Director of Emergency Management pursuant to the provisions set out in _The Emergency Management Act R.S.A. 2000, c E-6.8_
- Participate in and follow all Lethbridge County’s health and safety programs, policies and processes
- Participate in ongoing professional development, public education, and preventative maintenance
- Complete all other relevant duties as assigned
**Education/Training/Skills**
- Post-secondary degree in Emergency Management, Risk Management, or related program required
- Suitable combination of education and experience may be considered
- 3-5 years of progressive emergency management experience
- Basic Emergency Management (BEM), ICS 100, 200, and 300 certifications required.
- ICS 400 certification would be considered an asset, and required to obtain within the first twelve (12) months of employment
- Project management/coordination experience
- Demonstrated strength in organizational, communication, team building, coaching, interpersonal and public relations skills.
- Ability to take initiative to meet deadlines while prioritizing several competing, complex and evolving projects.
- Familiar with Lethbridge County policies, bylaws, and other regulatory information.
- High level of personal integrity, confidentiality, and strong adherence to code of ethics.
- Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).
- Crisis communication training
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License complete with acceptable driver’s abstract
- Acceptable Police Information Check
- Current first-aid certification, or ability to obtain within first six (6) months of employment
**Working Conditions**
This position will work primarily in the Lethbridge Office. There will be a combination of office and field work required, including driving in, and being exposed to various weather conditions including snow, rain, strong winds, and extreme temperatures. Incumbent must be available for work during core operating hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday with the expectation to work outside of regular hours to accommodate training, during an incident/emergency response, or as required.

Pay: $90,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
