Reporting to the Communications Officer, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for providing communications, graphic design, social media and website support services that promote the Town of East Gwillimbury and the services the municipality delivers.
This position will support and work with all departments to ensure consistency of the corporate brand and develop designs, photos, graphics, and content that promote and support Town activities, programs, services, and initiatives. The individual will lead the production of documents, guides, and materials, and support the creation of media relations materials including media releases, advisories, and speaking notes. This includes layout, design and production and associated digital and social materials to be used in print and within facilities.
The Communications Coordinator will:
- Provide technical expertise in the creation of a wide range of products including program guides, newsletters, internal and external advertisements, signage, posters, infographics, publications, marketing materials, social media posts, website content, etc.
- Design all graphic materials required by various departments and the Town as a whole
- Create, write, edit, proofread, and post content to all communications channels, including the municipal website and social media channels, and ensure adherence to standards and guidelines
- Develop communications plans/strategies and design materials and execute tactics to promote large-scale campaigns
- Maintain Brand Guidelines
- Create graphics and display material for Town events, public open houses, meetings and information centres
- Track and analyze social media and website data and produce related reports
- Maintain EG’s “stock photography” portfolio and needs
- Develop and maintain digital advertisements for display in Town facilities
- Monitor and report the effectiveness of communications programs and strategies
- Assist with the development of timely communications/designs during emergencies
- Use a content management system to publish website content and support content writers
- Moderate social media posts and respond to inquiries as appropriate
- Write media releases, advisories and speaking notes as needed
Other requirements include:
- Proficiency in the use of software packages including Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat Professional), Canva, Microsoft Office (MS PowerPoint, MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-Outlook); photography, web design and copywriting skills
- Thorough working graphic design knowledge and demonstrated ability to develop marketing publications and materials with impact
- Extensive experience and knowledge of social media practices including drafting content, posting on all social media platforms, web and social media analytics and reporting
- Experience with writing, editing and proofreading content for corporate websites and social media channels
- Experience with using Content Management Systems and social media dashboards
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (visual, verbal, written), problem-solving skills, and initiative
- Superior customer service/public relations skills and strong organization
- Excellent time management, analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
- Attention to detail
- Political acuity
- Strategic thinker who can conceptualize easily, learn quickly, and initiate new ideas
**Salary Range: $77,350 - $90,999 (Band 6)**
