**General Overview - Director of Trades**

To support a smooth transition, we have a fantastic opportunity for the incoming director of trades as the onboarding includes an overlap period with the current incumbent. Reporting to the CEO, the **Director of Trades** is accountable for the successful development, implementation, management and growth of the Trades Training and Apprentice Programs, with a mandate to provide Indigenous individuals with accredited industry recognized training leading to apprenticeship certification.   Assumes key role for building and maintaining key industry, trade union, training institution and employer partnerships.

**Primary Responsibilities**

**Leadership Team**:

- Contributes to the implementation of the strategic and long-range plans by providing ideas and expertise that supports the development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
- Develops, conducts a risk analysis, sets timelines, and implements the Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
- Consistently demonstrates ACCESS management competencies
- Develops strategic plan, policies and procedures for Trades Department
- Understanding of how to utilize TRC and UNDRIP to benefit ACCESS programming

**Program Leadership**:

- Increase the number of Indigenous Peoples entering into apprenticeship through outreach and marketing.
- Support Indigenous people to attain their red seal or qualification certification by providing wrap around supports throughout their apprenticeship
- Supports Indigenous Peoples to attain Certificates of Qualification or Red Seal Certification.
- Develop and implement the program’s annual objectives, timelines and standards.
- Monitor and evaluate program outcomes according to objectives, standards and contract terms and within ACCESS mission and values.
- Assess and deliver Trades programming in alignment with current labour market information to better meet the needs of our clients and employer partners.
- Develop and review contracts with training institutes for presentation to the President and CEO
- Prepare reports on Trades Department for Service Canada and the and provide to the Director of Programs for amalgamation with all departments.
- Participates on ACCESS Marketing Committee to develop branding, maintain the website, produces marketing materials, and social media, both directly and through delegation to other staff.  Develop and coordinate the marketing of all upcoming Trades & Apprenticeship programs.
- Strong financial skills as required for planning, budgeting, allocating resources and monitoring funds.
- Pragmatic and sound financial judgement as it relates to financial responsibility.
- Provides oversight and direction to the Trades team for the recruitment and selection of trainees.
- Coordinate and schedule programs with other departments and training institutions.
