**Is currently seeking a Youth Counsellor/Case Manager**

**Youturn Youth Support Services** provides best practice and evidence-based interventions to high risk youth in conflict with the law and their families with the goal of improving personal competencies, strengthening families, reducing recidivism, and promoting a safer community. Experience and interest in working with survivors of human trafficking is considered an asset.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Assess client and family needs through interviews, collection of information, administering psychometric instruments, scoring, and interpreting results.
- Establish with the client and families achievable, time specific goals and identify intermediate targets for change.
- Conceptualize and develop an appropriate Initial Assessment and Intervention Plan, monthly updates and Termination Plan within the identified time lines.
- Provide direct counselling on an individual, family or group basis using agency sanctioned best practice and evidenced-based inventions.
- Utilize the Socio-Ecological Model, Feedback Informed Treatment and Collaborative Problem Solving perspectives in developing and implementing intervention plans.
- Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of available community services both within the youth and adult systems, and coordinate appropriate referrals to community resources as required.
- Use intervention strategies consistent with program design, provide direct individual or family counselling in the areas of healthy relationships; employment; housing; life skills; education; financial literacy; mental health; anger management; peer relations
- Serve as client advocate as required.
- Participation in community networking, knowledge exchange and interagency collaboration.
- Maintain flexible working hours, and provide on call services as required.
- Data collection, and participation in program evaluation.

**Qualifications**:

- A diploma in child and youth care or a bachelor’s degree in social work, counselling or related field
- Registration: as a psychotherapist or in an equivalent college; affiliation with accepted licensing body or evidence of work towards registration.
- Minimum 3 years (preference for) working with high-risk youth in conflict with the law or involved in street-level violence; human trafficking; child welfare
- Skill and knowledge in the Socio-Ecological Model, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Feedback Informed Treatment is an asset
- Criminal reference check including vulnerable sector is required.
- Access to a vehicle to use for work and a valid driver’s licence
- Fluency in both written and spoken French and English **is preferred**
