**Who Are We?**

The Upper Thames River Conservation Authority’s (UTRCA) mission statement is Inspiring a Healthy Environment. The 17 municipalities within the Upper Thames River watershed appoint representatives to the UTRCA’s Board of Directors who represent the local urban and rural communities, deciding policies and programs that will lead to a healthy watershed. Our programs and services focus on five key areas:

- Protecting people and property and supporting safe development;
- Delivering landowner stewardship;
- Providing natural spaces and recreational opportunities;
- Making science-based decisions;
- Empowering communities and youth.

The Upper Thames River watershed encompasses an area of 3,421 square kilometers and is mainly rural but includes the urban centres of London, Stratford, and Woodstock. The UTRCA serves a total population of approximately 539,500 residents.
UTRCA Conservation Areas provide outdoor recreational opportunities that aim to educate and promote conservation messages to a large audience in an effort to improve the watershed’s natural environment

**Summary**

This position may also be responsible for assisting a variety of projects related to climate change, the UTRCA’s Flood Forecasting and Warning System, maintenance of the UTRCA’s Water and Erosion Control Structures, the Low Water Program, and to provide technical support to other functions within the Water & Information Management Unit and the UTRCA ,

**Educational and Licencing Requirements**
- Degree from an accredited University in engineering, specializing in civil or water resources;
- Membership, or qualified to receive membership, as an Engineer-In-Training or Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is preferred.
- Valid Ontario Drivers Licence.

**Experience**
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (ArcGIS);
- Experience in, municipal planning, natural hazard regulations/policies/procedures/guidelines, or civil engineering would be considered assets.

**Skills, Knowledge and Ability**
- Excellent communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholder groups including the community, governments and agencies at a political and staff level;
- A thorough knowledge of computers and computer software packages related to this field;
- Ability to clearly report and document project work;
- Well-honed critical thinking skills to identify needs or requests and to provide advice, teach or train;
- Developed problem solving skills as issues faced on the job tend to be less routine.

**Compensation and Other Information**
- $35.81 to $43.57 per hour;
- Full time hours (35 hours per week) for the duration of the contract;
- Comprehensive Group Benefits, Pension Plan (OMERS) and Vacation package;
- Free access to UTRCA Conservation Area Fanshawe, Pittock and Wildwood);
