Gowan Canada is seeking a laboratory technician to work in our Fort Saskatchewan plant. The laboratory Technician will analyze each batch granular herbicide product, based on a 4 / 10 workweek day shift operation.

**Responsibilities**:

- Performs routine physical property and chemical analysis of Herbicide product and raw materials to comply with product specifications. Decides on the status of finished product and communicates status to other functions within the production unit in a timely manner.
- Maintains quality critical analytical equipment to ensure quality data is reliable and ensure equipment is at or above expectations or issues are identified
- Performs routine calibration, verification, and maintenance procedures per defined schedule and maintains documentation
- Experienced with GAS CHROMATOGHAPHY analytical equipment.
- Enters data into specific information databases and is experienced with Microsoft office tools (Word and Excel.)
- Willing to work a 10 hour day shift, based on a 4/10 production schedule and occasional overtime.
- Ability to understand and follow all safety rules at all times.
- We are looking for someone with a positive can-do attitude.
- We need someone with the ability to follow detailed written operating procedures.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum chemical technology diploma or related bachelor degree with 0-2 year experience in the field.
- Good mechanical aptitude.
- Physically able to lift 25 kg and able to stand for an entire shift (10 hours)
- Willing to work a flexible work schedule, when required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Good communication skills
