Position: 1913 Speakeasy Server
Reports To: Bar Manager
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Bar Manager, the 1913 Speakeasy Server plays a vital role in helping deliver an unforgettable dining experience that embodies the unique experience, character and service of 1913 Speakeasy, while positively contributing to embodying the Hard Rock culture.
Hours of Work:
This is an hourly position, with work hours that align with business needs and guest demand.
1913 Speakeasy Server - Job Description
Job Duties Include (but are not limited to):
Take food and beverage orders, retrieve and serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and meals to guests, courteously and efficiently according to hotel specifications. Assist in the maintenance of the outlet area and equipment.
- Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
- Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day
- Always maintain positive guest relations
- Fully understand the table side presentation of the cocktail programming and deliver consistently with each interactive cocktail
- Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, food offerings, cocktails, liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available in the assigned outlet
- Maintain knowledge of the characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
- Maintain complete knowledge of designated glassware and garnishes for each drink
- Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by liquor regulations
- Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operation, menus, price range and of assigned outlet
- Maintain complete knowledge of P.O.S. (MICROS) and manual systems.
- Complete opening/during shift/closing side duties
- Inspect cleanliness and condition of assigned section, entire outlet and service areas; help with any areas that need to be addressed before, during and after service
- Greet guests and take their orders (food and beverage), utilizing suggestive/up-selling techniques
- Retrieve orders from designated areas and serve to guest's
- Open and serve wine/champagne bottles
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of tables, service areas and outlet itself.
- Present guest checks and process payments
- Adhere to all cash handling and credit policies/procedures
- Clean and reset tables immediately after guests depart
- Clearly communicate last call at designated closing time to guests
- Report tips at the end of assigned shift
**Qualifications**:
- High school graduate or secondary school diploma equivalent
- Minimum of 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
- Minimum 2-years’ experience as a Server, Cocktail Server or Bartender in a casual fine dining/ fine dining environment required
- Previous work experience with craft cocktail programs considered a strong asset
- Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Experience in bartending and cash handling considered a strong asset
- WSET certification considered a strong asset
- Smart Serve certified
- Food Handlers certificate
- Ability to input and access information in the point of sales system
Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
- Constant standing and walking throughout shift
- Occasional lifting up to 25lbs
