Landscape Construction Lead Hand

Ghent Landscape is currently looking for a Lead Hand to join our commercial landscape construction division. Suitable team members are motivated individuals that enjoy working outdoors on a daily basis and are comfortable in the operation of various landscape construction equipment and tools. Year round employment is available as a member of our winter maintenance team. Full-time work available immediately.

**Salary**:$25-$30/hr, dependent on experience

**Benefits**:Available after probationary period, RRSP matching available after 1 year

**Responsibilities**

  • Assist with leading a landscape crew to complete onsite tasks
  • Assist with retaining walls, interlock patios, excavations and various other hardscape or earthworks projects
  • Safely and efficiently operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators and loaders
  • Interact with clients and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner
  • Communicate with supervisor to ensure job satisfaction is achieved
  • Ensure compliance with company health and safety training and reporting requirements
  • Required to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Responsible to provide own CSA approved safety boots
  • Must be willing to work 40-55 hours per week and some weekends depending on work load
  • Other duties will be assigned as required

**Desired Skills and Experience**

  • 2-3 years of prior experience in landscape construction is required
  • Experience with various heavy equipment used in landscape construction is preferred
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings
  • Previous leadership experience is a strong asset
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50lbs
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and follow instructions
  • Must be safety conscious
  • Skill to troubleshoot solutions when problems arise
  • Must be punctual and personable
  • Must obtain WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety Awareness training

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $25.00-$30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 55 per week
