**About Nova Scotia Amateur Wrestling Association (NSAWA)**

The NSAWA is the provincial sport governing body for Olympic‑style wrestling in Nova Scotia. Its Excellence pillar’s mission is to provide leadership and development opportunities for youth athletes, helping them acquire the skills and experience needed to compete and excel at the Canadian Championships. By offering targeted programs, coaching support, and a safe, supportive environment, the NSAWA aims to nurture the next generation of athletes and guide them toward podium‑level success.

**Position Overview**
- **Position**: Provincial Performance Coach
- **Reports To**: Excellence Director
- **Location**: Nova Scotia
- **Duration**: Part-time, one-year contract (with possibility of renewal)

**Benefits**
- **Travel Reimbursement**: Pre-approved travel and mileage expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with internal policies. Current travel reimbursement rates are under review and will be confirmed prior to hiring.

**Key Responsibilities**

The Provincial Coach will be responsible for:

- Creating and executing a Yearly Training Plan (YTP) for both the Provincial Development and Performance Team programs.
- Working closely with the NSAWA Excellence Director and collaborating with Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic (CSIA) sport science staff to deliver group and individual sessions.
- Attending NSAWA-sanctioned events and visiting NSAWA member clubs across the province to support club coaches and assess Daily Training Environment (DTE) needs.
- Identifying, developing, and mentoring new wrestling coaches throughout Nova Scotia.

**Qualifications**
- Must be a member in good standing with NSAWA
- Minimum NCCP Competition-Introduction Trained (and be in the current process of obtaining Competition-Development Certification)
- Coaching experience at the provincial team performance level
- Valid Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Completed NCCP Safe Sport Training
- Access to a personal vehicle for local travel (NSAWA will not cover rental vehicle costs for travel within Nova Scotia)
- Valid Driver’s License
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
- Must not hold a position on the Wrestling Nova Scotia Board of Directors during the term of appointment as Provincial Coach

- Experience working with partners, coaches, and volunteers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Critical thinking and decision-making under pressure
- Proven ability to address and resolve conflict
- Proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
