**Objectives**:
The focus of this project is the Indigenous homeless in the City of Peterborough. The project will provide outreach services to connect individuals and families to permanent housing; reduce homelessness as well as reduce new inflows into the homelessness system. 

**Responsibilities**:
The Housing Case Coordinator will educate partners and other external agencies about circumstances that can lead to Indigenous homelessness and best practices to support these individuals. This will be done from a culturally competent lens and within the context of the impacts of colonization, racism, and intergenerational trauma. Target audiences include front line staff of police, Children’s Aid Society and public health that may encounter Indigenous women and youth that are vulnerable, being exploited or need extra resources to support them in accessing housing supports.  In addition to providing outreach services to Indigenous homeless individuals in the City of Peterborough.

**Qualifications**:

- Education in relevant post-secondary program (i.e. Social Service)  
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in the community and/or social services or acceptable combination of the above is an asset  
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with a strong understanding of the impacts of trauma;  
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to create and maintain trusting relationships with vulnerable peoples;  
- Experience in building and maintaining positive working relationships with local organizations/institutions to foster collaborative and coordinated approaches to achieving program objectives;  
- Ability to work within the established policies and procedures of the NFC organization with the ability to work independently & as a team player, with mínimal supervision;  
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle & be willing to travel when required;  
- Must possess current First Aid / CPR certification or be willing to be certified;  
- Indigenous heritage a preference; (ref: Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy); and,  
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.  

**Salary**: $ 48,000.00 annually (with a 6-month probation)   

**Benefits**: Health care spending account, 2 weeks paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick time.   

**Schedule**: 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends as needed
