**Journeyperson Plumber, Operations and Maintenance**:

**The Facilities** team is comprised of over 300 trades personnel and service workers that provide trusted services and stewardship in support of teaching, learning, and discovery. This team is responsible for operations, maintenance, service, utilities distribution, and customer support. The Facilities Team Charter describes the purpose, vision, and values that in turn support the campus community.

**Primary Purpose**: To provide expert service, maintenance, and repair of campus plumbing systems and related mechanical systems, with a strong focus on preventive and predictive maintenance. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable building operations while contributing positively to a collaborative, accountable, and safety-conscious team culture.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to an Assistant Manager, Facilities, this position works in a multi-trade environment across a large and diverse campus. Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and involves moderate to heavy physical labor. The role requires independent work as well as collaboration with other trades, clients, and contractors, often in high-pressure situations and under changing priorities. Physical demands include lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in confined spaces, crawlspaces, elevated platforms, and construction zones, sometimes under hot, humid, noisy, or low-visibility conditions. Workers may encounter hazardous materials such as asbestos, lead, silica, biohazards, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection requiring a clean-shaven face, will be provided and must be worn when required.

This position participates in a rotational on-call schedule and may have shift changes based on operational needs.

**Typical Duties/Accountabilities**:

- Is accountable to the Facilities Team Charter and is aligned with the purpose, vision, and values, and holds themselves and each other accountable to it.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, modify, and install a wide range of plumbing systems and devices, including but not limited to domestic, commercial, and industrial water supply systems, wastewater disposal and venting systems, backflow prevention systems, natural and laboratory gas lines and equipment, compressed air systems, gas-fired appliances, and other plumbing and related systems.
- Perform work in accordance with all applicable codes, regulations, and University of Saskatchewan standards.
- Contribute to a long-term strategy of reliability-centred maintenance by identifying trends, recurring issues, and proactive solutions.
- Work collaboratively with other trades and staff to carry out preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
- Provide input and recommendations for equipment upgrades, system improvements, and procedural innovations.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, and specifications (digital and paper) to determine work scope and plan/estimate work.
- Assist with planning and execution of shop and field work to ensure clean, safe, and efficient maintenance and installations.
- Communicate clearly with team members and campus community to coordinate tasks, for the procurement of materials, and to deliver excellent customer service.
- Support workplace safety initiatives and continuously seek to improve work practices and performance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Valid Red Seal Journeyperson Certificate in Plumbing, as recognized by the Saskatchewan Apprenticeship and Trade Certification Commission.
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience as a Journeyperson Plumber working in industrial, commercial, or institutional plumbing maintenance and construction settings.
- Must hold and maintain a valid Cross Connection Control Certification.
- Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- A Domestic Gasfitter License or General Gas Fitter License along with experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing gas fired equipment is considered an asset.
