**Job Purpose**:
The Electrical Apprentice is responsible for installing electrical components on vehicle engines and chassis (switches, lights, modules, displays, sensors), vehicle and cabin wire harness assemblies and electro-mechanical assemblies. Ensuring production vehicles are delivered according to the production schedule and service contracts. Assuming a lead role in at least one assembly line or project. Work with Supervisor and other assembly personnel in order to solve issues. Assist other employees as required.
***Essential Functions**:
- ** **Systematically diagnoses faults in electrical and electronic systems and equipment and repairs or replaces electrical and electronic components as required.
- Perform initial vehicle startup and associated tests and reports.
- Fabricate and Install electrical assemblies from drawings, schematics, and sketches.
- Work with PLC, HMI, CAD, & Office Software.
- Fabricate wire harness assemblies.
- Perform quality control for electrical circuits and components.
- Plan and perform assembly work from drawings, pick lists, and bills of material
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, engineering drawings and work instructions
- Perform electro -Mechanical Assembly work - build new, troubleshoot, repair or modify units
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits 12VDC-24VDC.
- Assemble wire panels, junction boxes and subassemblies.
- ** **Perform building and production line maintenance based on availability and skill level
- Assist in engineering procedures for production vehicles
- Maintain and improve quality standards.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area, employ 5S processes.
- Follow and complete OCOT Technical Training Standards log for trade #442A, maintain training agreement.
- Ensure compliance in all safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
- Communicate consistently on all activities to appropriate individuals (internal & external).
- Maintain ongoing communication and adhere to all Companywide policies to eliminate and/or reduce exposure to liability.
- Special projects or work as assigned.
***Additional Responsibilities**:
**Experience/Training/Education**:
**Required**: Formal training and certification accompanied with 1-5 years of related experience in a similar capacity. Requires knowledge and understanding of hydraulic circuits. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics.
**Desired**: Certification and experience with overhead crane and forklift
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:
Ability to meet deadlines; to understand and follow written and verbal instructions; Ability to understand and follow posted work rules and procedures. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with supervisors, members of management, vendors, and other employees.
**Physical and Environmental Elements**:
This is a production classification and employees work indoors and outdoors (in all seasons) with exposure to noise, chemicals, heavy equipment and machinery. Accurate hand/eye coordination is required. Finger dexterity is required, as well as hand strength, with the ability to grasp, lift, push and pull. Work involves considerable climbing, twisting, bending, squatting and kneeling for long periods of time. May lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds and pull approximately 20 lbs. Need to have the ability to ascend and descent a ladder and/or scaffolding.
