Provides program review and program development including training, education and community relations. Models and puts into practice the principles of inclusion and contribution ensuring that staff encourage these principles in their practice and the practice of others. Manages the expenses of the program and follows established budget guidelines. Provide direction to a team of SCD staff including consultants and program assistants. Works in collaboration with the variety of early intervention and family support programs and services.

**QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS**:

- 4 year degree from a University or College of recognized standing in a field related to the position (e.g. early childhood education, child and youth care, social work, psychology)
- Maintain a satisfactory criminal record check throughout employment
- A valid BC Class 5 driver’s license
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Required to use own vehicle
- First Aid / CPR / NVCI
- Requires proficiency in computer skills, e.g. Microsoft Office
- Willingness to work evenings / weekends (flextime schedule)
- Requires union membership

**EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum three years experience facilitating a process of individual planning and service coordination for families of children who require additional support. Demonstrated understanding of core issues related to Lifelong Disability/Community Living. Experience in advancing quality, inclusive public education for students with disabilities in the public education system is an asset. Progressively increasing experience in supervision and program administration including statistical record keeping, scheduling and planning for staff, and working with budgets and individualized funding. Strong understanding of and experience with regards to childhood development and the impact of disability and delay on growth and development. Also requires experience with adult education, preferably in the area of supporting families and service providers to acquire knowledge and skills necessary to understand and address a child’s support needs.
Requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative, knowledge of and demonstrated experience working proactively and collaboratively with community agencies and government systems and services, including related service providers. Excellent written and oral communication, time management and organizational skill, leadership abilities and knowledge of group processes. Ability to work with and inspire a wide variety of people.
