**Job Title**: Heavy Equipment Operator
**Location**: Hope, BC

**Pay Range**: $36-48/hr
**Job Type**: Full -time
**Hours**:8 hours, Overtime, Weekends as needed
**Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, dozers, rollers, loaders, skid steers, and rock trucks safely.
- Assist in site preparation, including clearing, excavation, grading, and backfilling as per project needs.
- Lifting and setting equipment, cages, pipe, and concrete structures.
- Trenching, grading, and site preparation.
- Perform daily pre-trip inspections and maintenance checks on equipment; report any defects or needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Complete daily hazard assessments and identify controls.
- Participate in site and safety meetings with your supervisor and co-workers as needed, completing all required daily safety paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings and complete role-specific training.
- Maintain active communication with your supervisor and co-workers throughout your work period.
- Maintain an open and communicative demeanor, facilitating strong communication with your co-workers.
- Complete industry, project, and/or safety-specific training, as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in the role of Heavy Equipment Operator, ideally in a civil construction setting.
- High School or Equivalent.
- Valid Drivers License
- Reliable work vehicle required
**Technical Skills**:
- Operate with precision, efficiency, and safety.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and simple repairs on equipment.
- Blind spot and spatial awareness.
- Understand load stability and limitations of the machine.
- Legal loading of trucks - from stock pile & in-situ.
- Knowledge of safe excavation slopes
- Understanding of handling different soil types in wet & dry weather.
- Understanding of grades.
- Access and egress of site for trucks.
- Understand site layout and organization, grading plans, and excavation requirements.
- Capable of reading and understanding project drawings and specifications.
- Work around utilities (buried & overhead).
- Knowledgeable with a proven safety record of working around existing utilities.
- Ability to work long hours in all weather conditions

- Self-motivated with the ability to perform well without supervision.

- Ability to remain focused and productive in a high-pressure environment.
- Commitment to safety and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential hazards.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
