Boyle Street Community Services (BSCS) is a values-driven organization that believes our clients are the experts in their own life. Your job will be to foster innovation with your team alongside our clients.

The Intake and Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing Boyle Street’s intake and referral office. This is the first point of contact for new clients as well as an information and referral point for our regular community members - a place providing quick solutions to immediate issues and needs. The Intake and referral coordinator must ensure that the work of the intake and referral office is in line with the mandate, mission and spirit of Boyle Street.

**Key Areas of Responsibilities**:

- Ensure that the Intake and Referral office is a welcoming, accessible, and ethical space for our clientele. This includes making sure that the work done at the office is parallel to the mission and spirit of BSCS.
- Complete intakes by assigning programs and services in the BSCS organizations appropriately to clients that require long/short-term assistance.
- Reconcile issues that are both immediate in and concern community members who possess a suitable level of independence.
- Inform and educate clients on that various programs and services offered by BSCS while also providing information to clients regarding other services offered within the Edmonton area.
- Ensure that staff at BSCS are educated and updated on the programs that are offered so they can provide advice and support to the clients in their division.
- Ensure that all programs and departments within BSCS are working together to provide effective and efficient assistance to our clients.
- Ensure all client data collection and reporting are carried out in an efficient and timely manner.
- Identify particularly vulnerable community members for consideration at the agency-wide Intake Meeting
- Build relationships and partnerships and attend meetings with external stakeholders and organizations that further the aims of the intake and referral service at Boyle Street
- BSCS is more than a workplace. It is a community where everyone helps and contributes to the whole, and there is an expectation that all employees will take part in events (during the work week and occasionally during weekends and evenings). This includes fundraising campaigns, running community meals, medicine picking etc.
- All other duties as outlined by program manager.

**Education, Experience & Skills**:

- At least two years of experience of delivering community-based services.
- Excellent communication skills that can be transferred to build rapport with marginalized individuals engaged in high-risk activities.
- Must be able to understand and acknowledge BSCS clientele to deliver high quality, trauma informed services within a stressful environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Office is an asset.
- Must be able to problem-solve and be able to launch prompt solutions for higher risk clients seeking urgent aid, and long/short term assistance.
- Demonstrates commitment and innovation to their work.
- Knowledge and understanding of poverty related issues, trends, and services particularly in Edmonton is essential.
- Experience of networking with a range of partners and stakeholders
- Proficient written communication skills are preferred to deliver accurate reports and documents.
- Experience with and knowledge of Indigenous culture and ceremonies is considered an asset.

**Training & Screening Requirements**:

- Valid First Aid certificate required
- Police Information Check kept up to date (every 3 years)
- Child and Youth Intervention record kept up to date (every 3 years)

Clients, staff and partners are vital members of the Boyle Street team, so we place emphasis on making sure that we address each other correctly by using preferred pronouns.

All employees are required to provide up to date Police Information Checks with the Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child and Youth Intervention Record Check. After the initial submission prior to the individuals start date, new copies must be provided every three years there after

The health and safety of our clients and staff is of the utmost importance to our organization. Per Boyle Street's COVID-19 policy, all new hires are required to be fully vaccinated with the third booster dose. Proof of full vaccination by means of immunization records from AHS, letter from a physician, or other health care provider is required prior to starting with BSCS.
