DMC’s mission is to be the leading authority for destination management, advancing Markham’s visitor economy with the support of its residents, businesses, and government. - Location: Markham, Ontario - Date Posted: 24 Jan 2025 - Closing Date: 08 Feb 2025 **Role Description** We are looking for an innovative, organized, and self-driven Tourism Marketing Coordinator to help drive our marketing strategies forward, working to highlight Markham’s unique blend of cultural, culinary, and event-based attractions. This role requires a proactive approach, excellent multitasking skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The Tourism Marketing Coordinator will report to the Stakeholder Relations and Marketing Manager and contribute to Destination Markham’s goal of showcasing Markham’s appeal to key regional and national audiences. This position is essential to our marketing team, with responsibilities that span digital & print marketing, content creation, partnership building, and event support. **Key Responsibilities**: - Media Relations & Public Outreach: Coordinate media relationships, secure coverage, and manage press visits. Develop press releases and materials for ongoing media exposure. - Stakeholder & Community Engagement: Serve as a contact for local businesses and tourism partners, fostering collaborations. Represent Destination Markham at community events and industry conferences. - Digital Strategy: Oversee social media, drive engagement, and monitor performance using analytics tools. Implement SEO strategies and coordinate digital ad campaigns. - Event Marketing: Support the promotion of Destination Markham events, including campaign development, event materials, and on-site support. Collaborate with partners to enhance visitor experiences. - Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze event impact on the local economy, using tools like Environics Analytics. Provide actionable insights on visitor trends and economic impact. - Administrative & Budget Support: Assist with budget tracking, invoice reviews, and maintain accurate marketing records. Provide general support for meetings, logistics, and inventory management. **Skills and Competencies**: - Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills, with experience in content creation, copywriting, and social media management. - Experience in digital marketing, social media, and content creation. - Demonstrated ability to work independently as a self-starter while effectively managing multiple tasks and deadlines with excellent organizational skills. - Knowledge of SEO, analytics tools, and campaign performance evaluation. - Ability to work under pressure and produce high-quality work in a timely manner, often to deadline. - Ability to exercise initiative and self-motivation and work effectively in a team environment. - Passion for driving exceptional customer experience. **Requirements**: - Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field. - Minimum of three (3) years in tourism marketing or a related industry, with an understanding of tourism promotion strategies and community engagement. - Valid Ontario "G" driver's license in good standing and access to a personal vehicle. - Experience in the tourism industry is an asset. **Working Conditions**: - Requirement to travel to various event sites in the Greater Toronto Area. - Responding to after hour communication issues and/or requests. - Low risk of exposure to adverse working conditions. - Hybrid work environment. **COMPENSATION** Destination Markham offers a competitive compensation based on the experience and proven track record. **REFERENCES** Destination Markham will require 3 references. **INCLUSION AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYMENT** **AODA COMPLIANCE** Destination Markham Corporation is committed to creating an accessible and inclusive organization.
