**About Us**
The Family support services program is dedicated to building a stronger community through leadership, support, and service. We foster, promote, and coordinate resources and people to deliver unique and creative solutions to serve the needs of the community. We provide direct service to the community, covering the grater Moncton area and neighboring communities.
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated **Community Support Workers** to assist children and adults with special needs, including individuals with cognitive delays, physical disabilities, and mental health challenges.
Support is offered primarily in the **community**, with occasional **in-home assistance** based on the client’s needs. Services may include **companionship**, **relief/respite care**, and help with **errands, appointments, budgeting, and daily living skills**.
This is a **teaching-focused role**, aimed at helping clients become as independent and self-sufficient as possible. Community Support Workers teach and empower clients to make informed decisions based on their **age and abilities**, and to actively participate in their home and community life.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide companionship and supportive presence
- Assist clients with daily activities and life skills
- Support attendance at appointments and community events
- Teach and promote independence in home and community settings
- Provide relief/respite care to families and caregivers
- Transport clients daily (mileage reimbursed)
- Follow case plans and document progress
**Minimum Education Requirements**:
**College Diploma**:
- Human Services (not Human Resources)
- Child and Youth Care
- Social Service Worker / Social Service Diploma
- Community Services Intervention
- Educational Assistant / Teacher Aid
- Early Childhood Education / Daycare Assistant
- Policing & Corrections
- Rehabilitation Counsellor
- Autism Support Worker
**University Degree in Social Sciences**:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science with a focus in:
- Social Work
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Criminology
- Education
- Related social sciences fields
**University Degree in Physical Sciences**:
- Possible focus areas include:
- Nursing
- Gerontology
- Physical Therapy / Physiotherapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Other fields related to care for people with special needs
**Important Note**:
The **Personal Support Worker (PSW)** diploma is **not applicable** for this position.
Please **do not apply** if this is your only qualification.
**Additional Requirements**:
- Reliable personal vehicle with valid insurance and winter tires (**required**)
- Willingness and ability to transport clients (mileage reimbursed)
- Clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience working with individuals with special needs (**an asset**)
- Work after school, evenings and some weekends
- Have experience driving in winter conditions.
**What We Offer**
- Competitive hourly wage: $19.50 to start, increasing to $20.00 after successful completion of the probation period
- Mileage reimbursement for client transport $0.58 km
