Evening Shift Team Lead

Within Canada, Burckhardt Compression has a strong Services division in which we aim to provide one-stop reciprocating service for our customers. We are able to provide field service, repair and engineering/revamp services and spare parts for any brand of reciprocating compressor.

Burckhardt Compression (Canada) Inc. (BCCA) has an opening for **Evening Shift Team Lead**, that will be directly reporting to the Repair & Manufacturing Manager, this position is based in Edmonton, AB.

Shifts:
Monday - Thursday 2:00pm - 12:00am.

On-call rotation required.

**Key Tasks & Accountabilities**
- Responsible for assigning tasks to Shop employees according to their skill and knowledge and ensuring the work is being completed safely and efficiently without sacrificing quality or missing delivery dates;
- Responsible for organizing the workflow by monitoring progress throughout the shift;
- Responsible for employee development through training, verification of competency and monitoring of employee performance.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and supervise direct reports to ensure the group is meeting delivery times, quality and safety targets;
- Prioritize and coordinate all shop work to ensure all jobs are completed as per the Shop Schedule. Notify the Branch Coordinator and/or Repair Manager of any variances as soon as possible;
- Ensure Shop staff are following SOPs and completing the required inspections, measurements, etc. Verify that the proper documentation is completed accurately and submitted in a timely manner;
- Verify that materials are in stock sourcing materials to complete jobs as needed;
- Complete tasks or perform standard duties of a journeyman Machinist or Millwright in order to get the jobs done and complete all equipment maintenance as required.

Personnel
- Promote and maintain a positive work environment, encourage a culture with a growth mindset to improve employee engagement and teamwork;
- Manage the performance of direct reports by providing training to SOPs and to safety & quality expectations. Provide guidance and feedback to ensure expectations are being and continue to be met;
- Conduct performance appraisals, goal setting, mid-year reviews within the set timelines;
- With the assistance of HR, execute performance management and progressive discipline as required.

Safety & Quality
- Ensure compliance of all safety policies and operating practices, identify deficiencies and take corrective action as necessary;
- Inspect work areas for safety hazards and observe employees for safe work habits;
- Respond to safety incidents quickly and with appropriate corrective actions;
- Ensure Quality standards are being met and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for our Shop;
- Investigate and resolve assigned NCRs as required;
Education & Experience
- Relevant journeyperson ticket or equivalent post-secondary studies;
- 5+ years of progressive experience as a journeyman Millwright, Machinist, or CNC Machinist;
- Essential knowledge of compressors, valves, etc;
- Ability to lead others and willingness to promote a strong safety and continuous improvement culture;
- Ability to effectively train others and willingness to see the team grow and succeed;
- Strong internal customer service focus, very organized and process driven;
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
- Collaborative communication style at all levels of the company demonstrating an open, honest and consistent approach to working with others;
- Ability to successfully adapt in fast-growing and changing environments;
- Proficient with Microsoft computer programs and other relevant service platforms;
- Proficient in English.
