London Cares Homeless Response Service is a not-for-profit agency aimed at building relationships and supporting those who are experiencing homelessness making it possible to help move some of the most vulnerable people in our community from street to home. Through a low barrier, compassionate approach we build relationships and are advocates for those we work with to build bridges and connections to the resources they need in support of their success and well-being.

As an Outreach Worker you can expect to assertively and skillfully engage with people experiencing homelessness who are street involved, sleeping rough or urban camping in the City of London. The work of this team is community-based, requiring workers to meet people where they are at, to provide in-the-moment crisis support, connections to social and healthcare services and linkages to safe, alternative solutions focused on housing.

London Cares offers employees a unique opportunity to be part of positive changes in our community to help solve the homelessness crisis.

**In this position you will be required to work on Saturday and Sunday every other weekend. This role has a guaranteed 14 paid hours biweekly with the ability to pick up more. This role does qualify for paid time off.**

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-Secondary education in the field of social work, human services, addictions, or mental health
- 2+ years of experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and vulnerable populations
- Clear vulnerable police record check
- Valid Standard First Aid/CPR is a requirement of this position.
- Training in non-violent crisis intervention and ASSIST considered an asset
- A valid driver’s license

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**
- A willingness to uphold a low-barrier approach and understanding of harm reduction and housing first principles.
- Skillful in-the-moment problem solving with a calm disposition
- Knowledge of community resources in the City of London and system
- navigation will be an asset to this role.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 8 months

Pay: From $25.95 per hour
