JOB DESCRIPTION, CIVILIAN MEMBER
**Position Title**: DIGITAL EVIDENCE & REDACTION CLERK
**Association**: BELLEVILLE POLICE ASSOCIATION

**Immediate Supervisor**: STAFF SERGEANT, PDQA
**Hours of Work**: FULL-TIME. 40 HOURS PER WEEK. MONDAY - FRIDAY (DAYS)
POSITION OBJECTIVES
The Digital Evidence & Redaction Clerk is responsible for managing and facilitating the digital evidence (video, audio, photo, document) records received at the Belleville Police Service. This position performs technical and administrative law enforcement functions in the control, collection, redaction, disclosure, destruction, quality assurance and disposition of collected evidence. The Digital Evidence & Redaction Clerk is responsible for working with various technologies to monitor and fulfill requests for digital evidence. This position includes a variety of responsibilities and requires a high degree of sensitivity to confidential matters.
POSITION RESPONIBILITIES
1. Perform duties in a manner that reflects the Service’s Vision, Mission Statement, and Motto.
2. Operate within the regulations, policies, and procedures established by the Police Services Act, the Belleville Police Services Board, and the Chief of Police.
3. Prepare digital evidence for disclosure including the accurate vetting and redaction of BWC footage, in-car footage, 911 audio calls, detention video, interview video, assist in quality control, the evaluation of BWC footage and measures, and prepare automated transcripts of BWC footage for disclosure.
4. Perform various tasks related to the video evidence disclosure process which includes reviewing requests, researching databases, Niche RMS, and locating and extracting original audio and video from our digital evidence management system.
5. Review digital evidence requests and complete redactions utilizing the redaction tools provided through digital evidence management system software.
6. C onduct audits of digital evidence to ensure compliance with existing directives governing the use of the cameras, in-car video, and other sources of digital evidence and report non-compliance to the Police Disclosure Quality Assurance (PDQA) Staff Sergeant.
7. Ensure proper chain of custody of digital evidence is maintained throughout the redaction and audit process.
8. Identify outstanding digital evidence request forms through Niche and follow up with the PDQA Staff Sergeant for any outstanding forms.
9. Prepare statements, as applicable, to explain to court what changes were made to digital evidence requests and how video is stored and secured; may be required to attend court to provide this evidence.
10. Process and prepare outside requests for information, which includes court requests, Crown Attorney requests, external agency requests, and Freedom of Information requests.
11. Provide support to Belleville Police Service members and outside agencies regarding requests and digital evidence.
13. Maintain a record of all requests and completions in relation to the co-ordination, redaction, audit, control and administration of digital evidence.
14. Perform other duties as required, assigned or directed by the Chief of Police or designate.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Certifications
**Required**:
Must possess a high-school diploma or equivalent.
**Preferred**:
Post-Secondary degree and/or diploma in related field is considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience in administrative roles with knowledge of administrative processes.
Ability to interact diplomatically, tactfully and confidentially with people.
