***About the Role**:
Mount Royal University is seeking a skilled Windows/VMware Server Analyst to join our Information Technology Services team. This is a one-year term position with the potential to transition into a permanent role.
As a key member of the ITS Infrastructure team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and maintenance of our Windows servers and VMware environment. You will ensure optimal performance, security, and availability of these critical systems. You will also play a vital role in project work, contributing your expertise to initiatives that enhance and evolve
our server infrastructure.
**This position may require occasional after-hours or on-call support.**
***Responsibilities**:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server operating systems and related
software.
- Monitor and optimize server performance, proactively addressing any issues.
- Implement security patches and updates to safeguard systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access control.
- Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines within the VMware environment.
- Monitor and optimize virtual machine performance, resource utilization and high availability
- Participate in the planning, design, and implementation of Windows server and VMware
infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
- Collaborate effectively with other IT teams and stakeholders.
***Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience administering Windows Server environments.
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with VMware vSphere or a similar virtualization
platform.
- Minimum 2 years of experience administering Active Directory.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Solid understanding of enterprise storage concepts and protocols.
- Experience with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell) is an asset.
- Experience with other operating systems (e.g., Linux) is an asset.
- Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) is an asset.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
- Eagerness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing priorities.
