**About DEWC**
**The Opportunity**
The Health & Safety Specialist is responsible for developing, leading and promoting occupational health and safety at DEWC and overseeing employee leaves. This includes **d**eveloping programs to prevent injuries, conducting inspections, investigating accidents and incidents, providing training about health and safety, addressing unsafe work behaviours or other concerns and ensuring compliance**with all relevant regulations regarding safety procedures. Reporting directly to the Director, People & Culture the Health & Safety Specialist will work in collaboration with other DEWC staff to ensure services to women. She will work from a feminist perspective and within an anti-oppression framework.
**About You**
- Completion of a diploma or degree in Human Resources or Occupational Health & Safety, plus three (3) years of related experience or an equivalent combination
- Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety legislation as well as Human Rights, the Duty to Accommodate, employment standards, and other employment related acts & regulations.
- Efficient organizational skills including record keeping, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills required
- Must have a strong working knowledge of the issues impacting women in the dtes, including violence against women, mental health, homelessness, and substance use
- Must work from strong feminist analysis and within an anti-oppression framework

- Temporary, full-time, 9 day fortnight schedule
- Excluded position: $ 66,950 - $74,100 per annum based on experience
