The Public Safety and Emergency Services Ministry keeps Albertans safe and secure by working alongside partners in law enforcement, justice, health and social services and other community and Indigenous partners as a part of the justice and public safety continuum.

The Provincial Security and Intelligence Office (PSIO) was established to enable the conveyance of timely and relevant advice and intelligence to the Alberta Government in areas of public safety and national security that fall within provincial responsibility. Such advice and intelligence supports multi-agency and cross-government efforts to protect Alberta from human induced intentional threats that could adversely affect Albertans, government operations, critical infrastructure, and socioeconomic interests.

**Role Responsibilities**:
As the front-line manager within the Provincial Security Office (PSO), the Provincial Security Manager directly supports the Director - Provincial Security Office by leading a team of Physical Security Advisors and the Security Clearance Coordinator to coordinate activities, security issues and the exchange of intelligence. The Manager also oversees the Security Clearance program for the Government of Alberta.

This position routinely engages with managerial and senior supervisory law enforcement, intelligence, and government officials at the national, provincial, and municipal levels to share information relevant to the security and interests of Alberta. This position also engages with members of provincial agencies, boards, and commissions.

In this role you will be a leader in the following:

- Lead the development of a strategic framework for an enterprise security risk management framework with a cohesive provincial security policy.
- Compile and present a variety of reports for Executive Teams with key security information.
- Research methods to enhance security measures at all facilities occupied by the GOA and its boards and agencies.
- Develop networks with security professionals in other jurisdictions.
- Co-chair relevant security committee and working group meetings.
- Identify emerging security risks, issues and trends and develop mitigation strategies.
- Consult and collaborate with GOA Cyber Security Services and Provincial Sheriffs Branch regarding security incidents and investigations.
- Develop and deliver ongoing training and education for the GOA regarding security related matters.
- Provide leadership in the management of sensitive security issues or risks, including vulnerability assessments and employee safety matters.
- Liaise with Security Services within Alberta including law enforcement agencies, federal agencies, and representatives from other provincial / territorial jurisdictions.
- Ensure assessments and evaluations are performed in compliance with established security policies.
- Provide security advice on various projects and initiatives.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in Law Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention, Security Operations plus a minimum of 5 years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas: Security Operations, Crime Prevention, Criminal Investigations, or Law Enforcement.

Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

- Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers Licence
- Must be eligible to obtain Peace Officer Status through the Peace Officer Program.
