Reporting to the planner/supervisor, the Operator is responsible for working in various climates. Responsibilities include operating various machinery and mobile and heavy equipment to move materials around various locations on grounds safely and efficiently. In addition to operating equipment, this position assist with any additional labour needed to complete assigned duties.

**WHAT YOU WILL DO**

1. Operate all mobile and heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
- Perform routine pre and post inspections along with maintenance on vehicles and auxiliary equipment such as cleaning, lubricating, recharging of batteries, fueling or replacing liquified gas tank, checking oil.
- Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored in proper areas.

2. Operate heavy equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.
- Operate dump truck and front-end loaders/skid steers for the purpose of loading and unloading material such as dirt, sand, snow, gravel.
- Hook trucks to trailer hitches and fasten attachments, such as graders, tractors, using hitch pins.
- Organizing and securing stored materials.
- Loading or unloading materials

3. Assist with general labourer duties including but not limited to:

- Moving, setting-up and tearing down of equipment for various events, as directed by the lead/supervisor.
- Providing guidance concerning occupational health and safety when completing certain tasks with laborers.

4. Presenting services in a professional, respectful and positive manner at all times when interacting with internal and external customers by:

- Listening closely and asking how you can better serve the customer’s needs.
- Fulfilling all requests
- Ensuring customers feel welcome by acknowledging them with a smile, making eye contact, engaging in conversation, and anticipating their needs.
- Ensuring that security and safety measures are in place in the facility.

5. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**Requirements**:
**Education and Experience**:

- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Provincial driver’s license.
- Two years’ experience operating heavy and mobile equipment(specifically the forklift) preferred. Previous relevant work experience will be considered.
- Valid certification to operate heavy equipment preferred(specifically the forklift).
- Possession of a valid CPR & First Aid certification card is an asset.
- Frequently exposed to all weather conditions and prepared for both extreme heat and cold.
- Hours will vary based on operational requirements
- Push and pull force (up to 75 pounds).
- Stand up lifting (up to 75 pounds).
- Weight carry (up to 75 pounds).
- Overhead lift/pull down (up to 50 pounds)
- Frequent overhead reaching, forward reaching, stooping, repetitive bending, walking, sitting, balance, eye/hand coordination, neck range of motion
- Occasional squatting, twisting, climbing ladders, static standing, operating hand and foot controls and fine manipulation.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Knowledge of safety regulations regarding heavy equipment operation and/or a certificate in heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to be safety conscious and willing to follow safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to perform the physically strenuous and demanding tasks to fulfill all working conditions and physical demands.
- Ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to maintain an accurate quality of work under stress and in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness and ability to maintain a respectable public image and conduct, interacting with customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
- Effective written, verbal, and listening skills.
