**Public Safety and Emergency Services**
**Role Responsibilities**:
- Reporting to the Fleet and Safety Manager, the Fleet Safety Officer plans, manages and addresses PSES needs as they relate directly to fleet operations, with specific focus on driver and vehicle safety, and in accordance with PSES strategic, operational and business plans.

Are you prepared to lead the enhancement and reinforcement of a proactive driver and vehicle road-safety culture in PSES? If you’ve answered yes to all of the above, then PSES Fleet Services is looking for you
As the Fleet Safety Officer, you will use your strong technical, research, consultation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills to support PSES program areas. Essential to your suitability is a willingness to continually learn, collaborate, be a team player and uphold a culture of continuous improvement.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Promote and maintain high standards of driver and road safety
- Facilitate compliance with the Alberta Traffic Safety Act and Regulations, NSC Standards and other legislated requirements
- Develop, deliver, and evaluate driver safety training programs
- Maintain and oversee vehicle and driver records in compliance with applicable legislation and GoA record-keeping standards
- Review and analyze vehicle collisions to determine contributing factors and recommend corrective actions
- Support fleet planning, procurement, and lifecycle management in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with all legislated vehicle regulatory requirements, including the Alberta Traffic Safety Act
- Lead business process engineering activities to develop consistent, innovative and efficient procedures that reflect best practices. Identify and implement automation opportunities
- Develop and deliver briefing materials to senior management when required

**Qualifications**:
- University graduation (4 years) in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below:
**Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of**:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
**Required**:
- Fleet and/or Equipment Management role with a background in vehicle and driver safety, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity (multi-site operation and/or government experience is considered an asset)
- Strong understanding and interpretive skills of related legislation, including the NSC, Motor Vehicle Transport Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act and Regulations, Alberta Traffic Safety Act and its Regulations
**Assets**:
- Designations such as Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM), Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS), Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
