As an organization, we provide support to the greater Squamish Nation Community through service. With 14 departments with individual areas of expertise, we ensure Community Members have access to necessary programs and services.

**About The Opportunity**:
Working as an integral part of the Ta na wa Chen̓tm - Chair and Council Office, reporting to the Reporting to Special Project Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating and managing logistics for various events related to the Council's activities. This position involves coordinating projects, liaising with Community & Engagement (C&E) and other departments on community events, and ensuring the Council’s calendar is updated with opportunities to engage with Squamish Nation (SN) people. The Coordinator/Specialist also assists in planning and coordinating Council-to-Council meetings and works closely with the Council Assistant. Additionally, the role involves assisting the Special Project Manager in coordinating ceremonial and public-facing events, providing project support for strategic initiatives, community engagements, and serving as a liaison with off-reserve members. This role takes the lead in planning the People’s Assemblies (3x per year). Collaborating with the Special Project Manager, the Events Coordinator/Specialist executes and delivers objectives for projects or government-to-government initiatives. Furthermore, the role involves providing support to spokespeople, offering cultural knowledge context, and occasionally assisting at speaking events. Collaboration with the Communications Writer/Specialist for project support is also a key aspect of the role. The Events Coordinator/Specialist reports directly to the Special Project Manager.

- Cultural competency/cultural awareness with relevant key information.
- Understanding of UNDRIP and implementations.
- Knowledge of traditional Squamish governance of the waters, lands, people and the environment.
- Understanding of Indigenous political leadership and political science.
- Able to problem solve and work to achieve tight deadlines.
- Adaptable, flexible, and agile; can adapt to complexity and work in an ever-changing environment with ease.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- High level of emotional intelligence, humility, and the capacity to give and receive feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills, patience and integrity with the ability to positively influence others.
- Team-oriented with a tactful and approachable attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Independent and self-motivated; demonstrates a strong ability to manage and execute their own work.

***Salary**: $ 59,373 - $ 66,223 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits program
