As an event associate for Opportunity Bridal, we are looking for reliable individuals who are naturally happy, energetic, outgoing and a team player. If these qualities sound like you then you may just be the perfect fit

**The job is fast paced and on your feet a lot and though there is not a lot of heavy lifting we do still ask that staff are able to lift up to 50 lbs.**

**While not required, the following additional skills will be considered a strong asset and should be highlighted to us if you possess these**:

- Valid driver’s license.
- Basic knowledge of sewing.
- Able to communicate in French.

This position, while based out of Kitchener Ontario, is a mobile position requiring travel to different cities each weekend. Travel will normally consist of leaving on Friday and returning late Sunday, but where distances are further from Kitchener, the normal travel dates are extended. A typical weekend event day shift starts at 7am and runs until the event has ended and the trailer has been loaded, which is usually by 5pm. A weekday event would start at 1pm and run until approximately 10 pm. Shared hotel accommodation is paid by the company as well as a tax free daily per diem of $70 for full days and $35 for half days..

This is a part time position that becomes full time for about 6 weeks before going back to part time. Our current sales season operates from mid July to early December and again from mid January to the early June. We are off the week of Canadian Thanksgiving, Easter, 4 weeks over Christmas and New Years as well as about 5 weeks for the summer. As there is lots of time off we ask staff to refrain from asking for time off during the active seasons. There are lay off periods over Christmas and Summer break.

As we do events across Canada, there are four times per year where an extended absence from home is required when we do events out West ( 5 weeks ) and in the Maritimes (2 weeks). Given the distance from home, staff remain on the road and in hotels doing 3-4 sales events each week and being entitled to $70 per day tax free per diem even on days off as they are away from home.

The pay structure for this position is $250 per event that takes place within 500 km of Kitchener, Ontario and $350 per event that takes place beyond 500km. The per diem is additional to this pay at a rate of $70 for full day and $35 for half day (half day is first and last day of travel). The pay rate is per event rather than an hourly rate and each event pay includes travel time to and from the event. This means that if you are traveling on a Friday to work a Saturday event, there is no extra pay for the travel time on the Friday as it is already included in the set rate for the Saturday event. You do however receive the half day per diem of $35 for the travel day.
