Child and Youth Advocacy Centre Coordinator

The Centre for Child Develoment is seeking a collaborative, service-oriented and innovative Coordinator who will be responsible for coordinating activities for the multi-discipinary team in Sophie’s Place.
Sophie’s Place provides services to children and youth aged 0 - 15 who are victims of physical and sexual abuse. As a Child and youth advocacy centre (CYAC) the primary goal of Sophie’s Place is to provide an integrated “one stop shop” where children who have been abused can receive the necessary services in a child centred environment from a multi-disciplinary team. It provides a seamless, coordinated and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of victims and their non offending family members.
Under the direction of the Vice President of Sophie’s Place, the Coordinator is responsible for raising awareness and creating connections with community partners, including families and schools.
Specific duties include coordinating activities of Sophie’s Place CYAC, community awareness and engagement, intake and case management, managing the Centre’s database, promoting service enhancements and maintaining collaborative relationships among the integrated team.
Key Responsibilities include:
**Community Awareness**
- Creates and implements plans to increase the profile of Sophie’s Place
- Assists in developing and maintaining positive relations with community partners and families
- Performs outreach activities
**Community Engagement**
- Develops and facilitates meetings and presentations, both virtual and in-person to engage stakeholders
- Researches and composes correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and a variety of documents
**Office Administration**
- Composes correspondence, reports, briefing notes, and other documents as requested
- Receives, responds to and distributes correspondence as required
- Schedules and sets up for appointments, meetings and teleconferences
**Support to the Integrated Sophie’s Place Team**
- Builds collaborative relationships with the multi-disciplinary team.
- Assists with data entry, drafting documents as required
- Provides assistance to the Sophie’s Place team as required
- Attends and participates in meetings and takes minutes as required
- Assists with receiving and directing intake related calls and refers appropriately
- Assists with scheduling interviews of children, youth and families as required
- Works with the integrated team to ensure families, children and youth are supported appropriately through interviews and appointments.
**Personal Leadership, Advocacy and Organizational Support**
- Assists with other responsibilities at the direction of the Vice President, Sophie’s Place
- Builds strong working (internal) and partnering (external) relationships
- Can self-initiate work in a collaborative environment
- Makes recommendations for new processes and improvements
- Contributes to a high performance and positive work environment
- Promotes and represents the organization in the community, supports and attends events

Sophie’s Place allows children to share their story in a child-friendly space where they feel safe and welcome and those in a position to help the child and family can do so in a compassionate, highly integrated manner.
With a salary range of $55,690 - 59,728, the Centre offers a competitive compensation and excellent benefit package.
