Reporting to the Manager, Indigenous Recruitment and Retention, the Indigenous Employment Advisor fulfils an integral role in implementing Island Health's Indigenous Recruitment and Retention work plan across Vancouver Island.
Travel is a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education, Training And Experience**:
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a degree in a related area such as Human Resources, Industrial Relations, and Business Administration and a minimum of three (3) years related experience working with Indigenous youth and job seekers, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Skills And Abilities**:
- Extensive knowledge of Indigenous communities and resources, ideally those on Vancouver Island.
- Excellent written communication skills coupled with the ability to write or edit high quality business documents.
- Excellent oral communication skills, facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, public speaking ability, and active listening skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills along with the ability to prioritize tasks and effective decision making ability.
- Successful proposal writing experience.
- Ability to take initiative; work independently and with limited supervision while being a member of a team.
- Ability to deal with personal and confidential matters appropriately.
- Education in cultural safety and humility, anti-racism, and addressing indigenous-specific racism.
- Valid Drivers' license and personal vehicle to facilitate travel to communities across Vancouver Island.
