We are currently recruiting for a **Health and Safety Specialist** to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Warehousing Operations, the Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for functions related to safety in the day-to-day operations of the organization.
**Role Responsibilities**:
- Adhere to TOC Logistics' primary focus on ensuring the safety of co-workers.
- Conduct internal training, including New Hire Safety Orientation, and ensure proper documentation and record retention for all safety training to maintain compliance (e.g., Forklift, WHMIS, First Aid).
- Perform periodic safety audits and inspections, prepare action plans, and ensure that appropriate personnel are held accountable for completing corrective actions.
- Participate in the incident investigation process from initiation to resolution with the appropriate management team.
- Implement preventative measures based on investigation outcomes.
- Provide administrative support and reporting capabilities, including preparing monthly training reports on co-worker participation.
- Prepare reports and presentations on safety and quality performance for management.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for WSIB matters related to workers.
- Engage in Return-to-Work coordination and Accommodation Plans for all work-related and non-work-related disability claims.
- Lead the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) by preparing agendas, taking minutes, and following up on action items.
- Assist in addressing Health and Safety audit gap findings.
- Monitor warehouse activities to ensure safety compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments and job safety analyses as needed.
- Present safety-related information at shift meetings.
- Collaborate with department personnel to resolve identified hazards.
- Act as the liaison during external safety, fire, and environmental audits, including Ministry of Labour inspections.
- Perform other safety-related duties or assignments as necessary.
- Travel between company locations as required.
**Required Skills and Experience**:
- Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience managing safety operations.
- Strong work ethic, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Detail-oriented, self-starter, and proactive team player.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong presentation abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- In-depth knowledge of OHS, WSIB and Human Rights legislation.
- Enthusiasm for challenges and new initiatives.
- Ability to multi-task in a high-pressure work environment.
- Strong integrative thinking and problem-solving skills.
