The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Justice. The division’s focus centers on cross-divisional and cross-ministry projects such as strategic policy initiatives and business transformations.

If you have a sharp eye for detail, a talent for synthesizing complex information, a commitment to delivering high-quality content, and experience demonstrating your comprehensive financial acumen, we have an exciting opportunity for you Join the Justice Supports Branch, Legal Aid and Grants (LAAG) unit as the Manager of Legal Aid Governance and Government Operations, a pivotal role in advancing the branch’s strategic priorities.
As the Manager of Legal Aid Governance and Government Operations, reporting to the Director, Legal Aid and Grants, you will work closely with the LAAG team, the branch leadership team, staff in the Assistant Deputy Ministers’ Office and the Financial Services Division, other divisional staff, Legal Aid Alberta staff, and other justice system stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality information and analysis highlighting how the delivery of legal aid services impacts Albertan’s access to justice.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Working closely with the LAAG Director to manage, track, and respond to emerging issues and requests, ensuring responses are developed on time to meet short-timeline and external demands.
- Lead the development and implementation of a robust financial accountability framework for grant funding streams and drive the modernization of financial policies, tools, and reporting to enhance transparency, efficiency, and strategic decision-making across the branch and with key stakeholders.
- Lead cross-functional financial administration across multiple teams to support the branch’s grant programming, including coordinating budgeting processes, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring alignment with financial policies and funding agreements.
- Provide leadership and direction to staff, fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture through effective supervision, clear expectations, and supportive coaching, including addressing performance gaps with professionalism and accountability.
- Managing and coordinating the resolution of complex and politically sensitive issues that often involve or impact multiple stakeholders (including other GoA departments).

**Qualifications**:
A related university degree (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, etc.), supplemented by at least four (4) years of related experience in finance or corporate performances.
**Equivalencies may be considered**:Master’s degree and a minimum two (2) years related experience, Diploma and a minimum of six (6) years related experience, one year certificate and a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience; or a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience in lieu of formal education.
