- The Provincial Drug Reimbursement Programs (PDRP) unit administers several cancer drug and service adjudication and funding programs on behalf of the Ontario Ministry of Health (ministry). As part of the Clinical Institutes and Quality Programs (CIQP) portfolio, PDRP provides timely access to high-cost cancer treatments and services, while ensuring the rational use of limited health resources.
- PDRP’s responsibilities include oversight of the New Drug Funding Program, the Case-by-Case Review Program, the Evidence-Building Program, the High-Cost Therapy Funding Program and Ontario Health’s Out-of-Country programs providing access to cancer drugs, services and genetic testing. PDRP is also accountable for the Evidence Search and Review Service, the Pharmacoeconomics Research Unit, CAR T-cell patient eligibility determination, and the Ontario Health satellite of the Canadian Centre for Applied Research in Cancer Control.
- On September 1, Ontario Health in collaboration with partners in Alberta and British Columbia and supported by funding from the Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) will launch the Canadian Cancer Real-world Evaluation (CCRE) Platform. The CCRE Platform will be a Core Network Partner supporting the CADTH Post-Market Drug Evaluation (PMDE) evidence generation network.
- The Lead will play a critical role managing the day-to-day operations of the CCRE platform. The Lead will oversee the management of individual projects by determining project milestones; resourcing, scheduling and tracking project progress; managing project budgets, contracts and agreements; and managing documentation, communication and operational reporting. The success of the Platform in providing timely and relevant responses to questions from policy stakeholders in Canadian drug reimbursement will be dependent on the effective project management and operational planning from this role.
Here is what you will be doing:
In this newly created role, this Lead will be part of the Ontario Health office for the Canadian Cancer Real-world Evaluation (CCRE) Core Platform Team, which will generate real-world evidence in response to cancer-related queries from health-care decision-makers across Canada.
- Overall responsibilities:
- Facilitate and implement processes, governance and oversight activities for the CCRE platform-
- Plan and coordinate the daily work and resourcing of the CCRE program team, including cross-provincial staff-
- Manage documentation requirements, including quarterly, mid-annual, and annual operational reporting, tracking query-specific workload, costing and performance metrics required by the sponsor and for internal program management-
- Develop and refine systems, tools and templates to establish innovative and standardized processes, measure progress, and enable efficiencies in query response-
- Develop communication plans and communicate on project progress and operational performance within Ontario Health, with partner organizations, and with the program’s sponsor-
- Prepare or coordinate all presentations for the CCRE Executive Steering Committee and other groups as required-
- Work with other PDRP managers to support internal reporting, including financials- Analysis:
- Working with the manager, develop program metrics and a performance dashboard for internal and external audiences-
- Measure and track performance indicators and metrics from before, during and after project delivery-
- Identify operational insights and trends to proactively raise issues and manage project roadblocks-
- Serve as a resource on evidence synthesis and the analysis of data related to CCRE queries-
- Liaise with clinical experts and other stakeholders to ensure the appropriate perspectives are incorporated into responses to CCRE queries- Coordination/Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the CCRE team to:- Summarize, analyze, and assist with the preparation of documents and presentation material-
- Coordinate all logistics and facilitate internal and external processes-
- Develop final products that are suitable for primary and secondary audiences (e.g., public)-
- Collaborate with Methodologist and analytic team to:- Manage project timelines and requirements to ensure each project is appropriately resourced and each team member is set up to deliver their best work-
- Identify risks and determine mitigation strategies to enable successful and timely completion of project deliverables-
- Coordinate development and submission of project-specific documentation e.g., for data access, protocol registration, stakeholder consultations-
- Collaborates with OH colleagues to support and execute other activities related to each project- Relationship Management:
