Nursery Yard Labourer

**Job Title**

Nursery Yard Labourer.

**Main Purpose of Job**

Provide various tasks to maintain a clean and well stocked nursery and garden centre. This includes working as a team to unload product, restock displays, assist customers, clean and organize the company’s premises, and assist customers.

Nursery Manager/ Horticulturalist.

**Hours of Work**

Monday to Sunday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

**Rate of Pay**

17.20+/hour

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Unload various size shipments of trees and shrubs using safe work practices.
- Load nursery product into customer vehicle using tractor and supply loader.
- Use of various outdoor tools including shovels, rakes, hand tools, leaf blower, wheelbarrow, etc.
- Package nursery product such as mulch, stone, and soil, in bags for easy access.
- Assist customers in loading purchased store product into vehicles, sometimes with assistance from team member.
- Operate various types of large machinery such as tractors, supply loader, forklift, F-550, pallet jack, etc.
- Property maintenance consisting of; sweeping walkway debris, power washing fountains and sidewalks, painting, using basic power hand tools, organizing watering lines, etc.
- Occasional deliveries off site to customers consisting of different nursery products, i.e., mulch, soil, stone, flagstone, etc.
- Keep inventory of products and report when low to the nursery manager.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections on machinery used.
- Irrigating plant materials in the nursery and hand watering around the yard.
- Work well with others to complete all tasks while practicing professional and patient customer service.

**Qualifications**
- G2 level license or higher.
- General labourer experience is an asset.
- Previous nursery experience is an asset.
- Secondary school diploma asset.
- 17+ years of age.

**Working Conditions**

**Physical Requirements**

It is important that the applicants have good physical stamina to endure long days of outdoor work. Applicants should be comfortable lifting 50+lbs on a regular basis and 60+lbs with assistance. They may be expected to lift various heavy objects such as tools, building materials, or debris throughout the workday. Applicants must have adequate range of motion, due to the many positions in which work will be done, i.e., kneeling, lying down, up and down on a ladder, etc. Please inform us of any hearing or visual impairments when interviewing.
